Is Death Stranding 2 still available for preorder?
No. PlayStation’s official FAQ says, “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach was released on 26 June 2025.” PlayStation announced preorders in March 2025, including a limited Collector’s Edition preorder through PlayStation Direct in the US, UK, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. Those were historical preorder channels, not evidence of current stock. Check the PlayStation Store or retailers in your country for present availability and pricing; neither is established by the official launch announcements.

The Collector’s Edition combines a digital copy with physical collectibles, so it is not the right choice if you specifically want a disc. Its 48-hour early-access offer was tied to launch timing and has no practical value now that the game has been released.

PlayStation released a themed limited-edition DualSense with an orange Drawbridge insignia and motto design. It is a standard-style PS5 controller with a special design, not a controller required to play the game. PlayStation’s Store listing confirms that the game supports DualSense vibration and trigger effects, but those features do not depend on owning the themed edition.
For a current purchase, compare the themed controller with an ordinary DualSense by local availability and price. PlayStation’s official product information establishes the themed design but does not establish current stock or pricing. Check the listing and seller in your region before buying.
What kind of game is Death Stranding 2?
PlayStation describes Death Stranding 2: On the Beach as an open-world, third-person action-adventure. No, but PlayStation says familiarity with Death Stranding or Death Stranding Director’s Cut may help you connect with the sequel’s story, gameplay and characters. If you have not played either, the first game is not stated as a purchase requirement.
Is Death Stranding 2 multiplayer, and does it require PS Plus?
PlayStation’s FAQ addresses multiplayer and says asynchronous multiplayer does not require PlayStation Plus. That is different from conventional real-time co-op: the stated multiplayer feature does not mean another player joins your session to play alongside you.
