Disney Lorcana’s Ursula’s Return arrived alongside Illumineer’s Quest—Deep Trouble, a separate solo-or-co-op experience in which players battle Ursula and her scenario deck. Ravensburger announced the set on March 20, 2024, with a release schedule that has since passed: May 17 at hobby stores and Disney Parks, followed by May 31 at mass retailers and DisneyStore.com.
What are Ursula’s Return and Deep Trouble?
Ursula’s Return is a Disney Lorcana Trading Card Game set. Illumineer’s Quest—Deep Trouble is a distinct Ursula-focused quest product associated with the set, not simply another way to describe the regular player-versus-player card game. Ravensburger’s announcement framed it as the first Illumineer’s Quest experience, with players taking on Ursula and her special scenario deck. Disney Lorcana’s March 20, 2024 announcement
The product page gives the story setup: a powerful Ursula glimmer has been released from the Great Illuminary and is putting her plans into motion. That is the set’s fictional premise, as presented by its publisher. Ursula’s Return product page
How does the co-op mode work?
Rather than competing against one another, players team up against Ursula. Her powers increase during the battle, and players also face her entangled glimmers. Deep Trouble offers four difficulty levels, and the official product page says players may bring any standard Lorcana deck. The included decks provide a ready-made way to start. - DEFEAT URSULA: Deep Trouble comes with two preconstructed player decks, featuring the sorcerer Yen Sid of Disney’s Fantasia and the brave Mulan. Player turns occur at the same time, so coordinate with your team, using abilities and effects on each other’s glimmers to ruin Ursula’s schemes.
- Up to four players can join in total, with the addition of any two standard Disney Lorcana decks (sold separately). Standard Disney Lorcana rules available at disneylorcana.com.
- URSULA'S ARMY: The sea witch will use all her powers to protect her lair against the Illumineers! Designed especially for the Illumineer’s Quest Deep Trouble , this gold-backed deck features entangled glimmers and mighty natural disasters. Ursula also plays by her own rules, and her powers increase as each move she makes brings her closer to her ultimate design!
- MULTIPLE LEVELS OF DIFFICULTY: Where will you fight Ursula: at the site of your first encounter, or at her lair, where her powers are the greatest? Battleground cards determine how difficult the encounter will be, while giving Illumineers unique abilities at the cost of lore. While the first two battlegrounds are great for starting out, two more are included to give players even greater challenges with Deep Trouble.
- Deep Trouble includes: 1 Oversized Ursula Card, 1 Ursula scenario deck (50 cards) with a unique card back, 2 Prebuilt Disney Lorcana TCG decks (60 cards each), 2 Oversized, double-sided battleground cards, 1 Deep Trouble playmat, 1 Ursula draw token, 3 Lore tracker tokens, 29 Damage counters, 1 Secret Victory card

What came next for Illumineer’s Quest?
In a separate 2025 announcement, Ravensburger described Illumineer’s Quest: Palace Heist as a co-op experience-in-a-box for up to four players taking on Jafar. It represents later development of the format, not part of the March 2024 Ursula’s Return announcement. Palace Heist announcement
