But you can make your finishes more reliable by practicing deliberately, choosing a mode-appropriate goal, and checking current event rules before committing to a race or upgrade. These ten tips are ranked as practical priorities—not as proven win-rate improvements.
1. Learn one racer before you keep switching
Spend several races with a racer you enjoy. Familiarity helps you recognize how that racer handles and when their unique skill is useful. Crew members can also affect racer stats and, in some cases, skills, so a racer’s setup matters as well as the racer themselves. The exact crew options and effects can vary; inspect the current racer and crew screens rather than relying on old slot counts. Gameloft’s development diary explains the role of crew members.

2. Practice clean laps, not just more races
When an event is judged by lap time, repeatable clean laps give you a useful way to work on your route. Notice where you lose speed or make a mistake, then focus on improving that section on the next attempt. Grand Prix is a time-limited solo leaderboard competition, but its eligibility rules, number of attempts, and rewards can differ by event. Do not assume a retry allowance from one event applies to another. Gameloft’s Season 18 announcement describes the Grand Prix format and event-specific requirements.
3. Treat Ranked as a risk-and-consistency mode
Ranked is a performance ladder, not a guaranteed path upward: a strong finish can earn points, while a loss can cost points. Gameloft’s January 2026 Season 18 rules said the top three earned points and losing races could deduct them. The announcement also said points were the same regardless of win streak, so do not count on a streak multiplier. Those rules are season-specific; check the live Ranked screen for current scoring. Read the Season 18 Ranked rules.

4. Match your practice to the mode’s objective
A lap-time event, Ranked race, and Team Mode ask you to optimize for different outcomes. Use the mode objective to decide what a good practice session looks like.
| Mode | What the cited rules measure | Useful focus |
|---|---|---|
| Ranked | Race placement and ladder points; Season 18 rules said losses could deduct points. Gameloft, January 2026 | Finishing consistently near the top rather than chasing a risky move every race. |
| Grand Prix | Lap times on a solo leaderboard, with event-specific racer requirements. Gameloft, January 2026 | Repeatable laps and learning where your route can be cleaner. |
| Team Mode | Cumulative placement scores for the team. Gameloft, June 2024 | Contributing to the combined team result, not only your personal finish. |
Rules may change between seasons or events, so use the current in-game description when the details affect your plan.

5. Choose crew deliberately and check the current roster
Crew members can modify stats and sometimes skills, which makes crew selection part of preparing a racer rather than a cosmetic choice. Compare the available crew on the racer you plan to use and consider what you want to improve. Gameloft’s detailed crew-slot information dates to 2023, so its thresholds should not be treated as current without checking the game. The development diary covers crew effects; the official Help Center is the better place to check current guidance.
6. In Team Mode, use class bonuses and complementary skills
Team Mode changes the value of individual actions. Gameloft’s June 2024 description says dashing a teammate grants class-specific benefits for Defender, Speedster, Brawler, and Trickster racers, and recommends combining racer skills. Coordinate with teammates when possible, and check the current mode description because team rules can change. See Gameloft’s Team Mode explanation.

7. Keep racing through the finish in team matches
Team Mode’s result uses cumulative player placements, according to Gameloft’s mode description. That means your position still contributes to the team outcome even when you are not leading. Prioritize completing the race and improving your placement rather than treating a teammate’s lead as a reason to stop competing. Gameloft describes the team scoring system here.
8. Learn the track by finding your repeat mistakes
Track familiarity is a practical skill, not a published shortcut or guaranteed time gain. As you race, remember where you clip a turn, lose control, or take a route that costs momentum. Work on one recurring mistake at a time and see whether your next clean lap improves. There is no official track-by-track optimal-line guide or measured time-saving figure in the sources cited here, so treat this as a practice method rather than a secret mechanic.

9. Set controls you can use consistently
Comfortable controls make it easier to repeat your inputs across races. Open the in-game Controls menu and review the options available on your platform; exact bindings are not listed here because they may differ by platform or change with updates. The official Help Center links to control-setting help.
10. Check event requirements before spending resources or grinding
Racer eligibility, attempts, progression, and rewards are all details that can change by event or season. Before you upgrade a racer or commit to repeated attempts, read the event’s current in-game rules. Gameloft’s January 2026 announcement listed seven Ranked leagues—Rookie, Expert, Master, Grandmaster, Challenger, Legend, and Unstoppable—and said season-end rewards depended on league and position. It also stated an eligibility requirement of a Diamond-or-higher racer at MPL 26 or above. Those are Season 18 details, not a promise that the live rules remain identical. Check the game and the Help Center’s Gameplay and season information for current requirements.
