Dispatch’s Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 release involved changes to some mature content, and January 2026 coverage described altered Deluxe Edition artwork. The June 17, 2026 HR Violations update added choices for how certain content appears during gameplay in many regions, but it does not change the digital artbook, comics, or eShop artwork. The artwork question and the in-game settings are related to the platform adaptation, but they are not the same thing.
Was Dispatch’s Nintendo Switch eShop artwork censored?
January 2026 coverage described altered Deluxe Edition artwork alongside changes to in-game content for the Nintendo versions. Nintendo’s current Australian product listing is more limited: it says that some mature content from the original version has been modified, without identifying every affected scene or artwork variant. The available official information does not establish a complete list of eShop artwork changes by territory.
That distinction matters because the later HR Violations update is a gameplay filter, not an artwork-restoration patch. AdHoc says the add-on does not apply to the digital artbook or comics, and nothing in its update announcement says it changes eShop key art. It would therefore be inaccurate to say the update restored the original artwork or every element of the game.
Why was Dispatch adapted for Nintendo platforms?
In a January 30, 2026 report, Nintendo Life relayed a statement Nintendo had given to GoNintendo: “Nintendo requires all games on its platforms to receive ratings from independent organizations and to meet our established content and platform guidelines. While we inform partners when their titles don’t meet our guidelines, Nintendo does not make changes to partner content. We also do not discuss specific content or the criteria used in making these determinations.”

AdHoc said in the same report: “Different platforms have different content criteria, and submissions are evaluated individually. For our Switch release, we worked with Nintendo to adapt certain elements so Dispatch could be on their platform.” The statements explain that the Nintendo release was adapted to meet platform requirements, but neither identifies the reason for each particular artwork or content change. Nintendo also says it does not make changes to partner content, so the evidence does not support claiming Nintendo personally edited the artwork.
What does the HR Violations Pack change?
AdHoc released the free HR Violations update on June 17, 2026, adding configurable coverage and visual-style options for Switch and Switch 2. On those consoles, the pack is a free eShop add-on listed at 6.0 MB. It changes how eligible content appears during gameplay; it does not make all content uncensored.

- Two Joy Con can be used independently in each hand, or together as 1 game controller when attached to the Joy Con grip
- They can also attach to the main console for use in handheld mode, or be shared with friends to enjoy two player action in supported games
- Each Joy Con has a full set of buttons and can act as a standalone controller, and each includes an accelerometer and gyro sensor, making independent left and right motion control possible
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Partial Coverage | Default setting. Buttocks, breasts, and middle-finger gestures are uncovered; genitals and explicit audio remain censored. |
| Full Coverage | Censors all explicit visual and audio content. |
| Mosaic | Default visual style where available; uses a pixelated blur. |
| Chaotic | Uses objects in the scene to cover content. |
| Blackout | Uses the original black-bar style. |
The coverage setting determines what is censored; the visual style determines how censored content is covered. AdHoc’s informal description of Partial Coverage says “Butts, boobs, and birds (AKA, middle fingers) are all set free,” while genitals and explicit audio remain censored.
How to enable the Switch or Switch 2 options
- Download the free HR Violations Pack from Dispatch’s DLC menu in the Nintendo eShop.
- Launch the game and open Game Menu > General Settings > Filters.
- Select a coverage setting and, where your region offers the choice, a visual style.
If an option is missing, check your Nintendo account’s storefront region and whether the game and add-on are updated. The available settings vary by region, so a menu shown in a guide from another territory may not match yours.

Does the update change the artbook, comics, or physical edition?
No. Nintendo’s HR Violations Pack listing says its options do not apply to the artbook or comics. Nintendo Australia describes the Digital Deluxe Edition as including a digital artbook of 100+ pages and four digital comics totaling 45+ pages; these are digital extras, not printed books.
AdHoc announced a physical Switch 2 Deluxe Edition on August 25, 2026, with delivery planned for Q4 2026. It includes the Nintendo Switch game and Switch 2 Edition upgrade pack, along with a 16-page printed guide and double-sided poster plus digital extras. AdHoc’s announcement also says some Nintendo Switch content is censored. This is an announced edition, not a shipped product, and a physical copy is not evidence that the game’s content is uncensored.

AdHoc’s June update says Steam and PS5 have optional censorship filters and remain uncensored by default outside Japan. In Japan, AdHoc describes Full Coverage in Blackout style. The same June post said Xbox players would receive the settings when the game released later that summer, but that announcement alone does not establish the current Xbox implementation. For artwork, the Switch gameplay filter information should not be treated as a platform-wide explanation of every store image or digital extra.
