What is the new Final Fantasy game?
DISSIDIA DUELLUM FINAL FANTASY is the latest entry in Square Enix’s DISSIDIA series, bringing warriors from across Final Fantasy together in a mobile game. Square Enix announced it on October 14, 2025, as a free-to-play release for iOS and Android in 2026. Square Enix’s announcement described it as “the latest installment in the DISSIDIA FINAL FANTASY series, which has featured numerous warriors from the long-running FINAL FANTASY series.”

The “surprises fans” wording is not established by the available announcements: they confirm the game and its release, but do not document a surprise reveal or measure fan reaction.

Why is the launch date reported as March 24?
Crunchyroll News reported on March 18, 2026, that a trailer revealed a March 24 launch. Square Enix’s North American Portal Site published its “now available” launch report on March 25. The dates should therefore be read in their source and regional context, rather than treating the North American post as evidence that it was published on March 24.

Square Enix’s launch report also says the original soundtrack became available starting March 24, 2026. It names Takafumi Imamura, part of the Final Fantasy XIV and Final Fantasy XVI sound team, as the main composer; the announcement does not establish a physical soundtrack edition.
How does DISSIDIA DUELLUM play?
The central format is 3v3 team boss battles. Two teams fight roaming monsters while racing to defeat a boss before the opposing team does. Square Enix says the controls support one-handed play. That makes this an arena-style team action game, not a traditional mainline Final Fantasy role-playing adventure.
What is the story setting?
The crossover story moves familiar Final Fantasy warriors to modern-day Tokyo. In Square Enix’s premise, a giant crystal appears in the city, and strange monsters emerge from energy that is polluting it. Armed warriors appear to respond to the crisis, but they hide who they are and disappear after battles; people come to call them “ghosts.”
The game includes a fully Japanese-voiced main story, along with shorter episodes about the warriors’ everyday lives.

Is the game free, and are the launch rewards still available?
Square Enix announced the game as free-to-play. At launch, its advertised login celebration bonus included items equivalent to 40 Ability Draw pulls, eight background music tracks from earlier DISSIDIA games, and five character tickets. Square Enix’s North American launch post said the bonus was available through April 24, 2026. That window has passed, so those quantities describe a historical launch offer, not a reward available now.
Square Enix also promoted a MogPay Points web shop and a limited bonus for linking a SQUARE ENIX MEMBERS account. Those were launch-period offers; the launch report does not establish that either remains active. Check the current game or its official channels for present offers.
