The Xbox Series X – Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 Special Edition Bundle paired a SpongeBob-themed custom console and controller with a digital copy of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2. Xbox announced it in March 2024 as a limited US Best Buy Drops release for $699. That was the launch price and release window—not confirmation of current stock or pricing.
What came in the SpongeBob Xbox Series X bundle?
Xbox announced the bundle on March 4, 2024, in collaboration with Best Buy, Paramount Game Studios, and GameMill. The package included three items:
- A custom-designed Xbox Series X console inspired by SpongeBob’s face, Krusty Krab uniform, and outstretched arms.
- A colorful Xbox Wireless Controller featuring SpongeBob and other underwater characters, including Squidward, Gary, and Mr. Krabs.
- A digital download of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2.
The name used in Xbox’s announcement was Xbox Series X – Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 Special Edition Bundle. Xbox’s announcement described the console and controller design and confirmed the game was included digitally.
What were the original US price and release details?
Xbox announced a $699 US retail price and a limited release through Best Buy Drops on March 7, 2024, at 8 a.m. Pacific. Best Buy’s announcement described an app-based release with limited quantities, but gave the time as 10 a.m. without specifying a time zone. For the historical launch time, Xbox’s stated 8 a.m. Pacific is the clearer reference; the announcements did not provide matching time details.

Best Buy’s launch-era advice was to use its mobile app, find the upcoming drop, and opt in to notifications. Its announcement said the item would be obtainable only while inventory remained. Those instructions describe the 2024 drop, not an active listing or a current restock. Best Buy’s announcement contains its original app-release details.
How did the bundle compare with buying the console and game separately?
The announced $699 bundle price was a historical launch figure. HotHardware reported on March 5, 2024, that the standard Xbox Series X was listed for $449.99 at both Amazon and Best Buy, making the bundle $250 more than that reported standard-console price. The comparison is limited to those reported prices at that time; it does not establish today’s prices or the value of the custom design.

The game included with the bundle was a digital download. HotHardware reported that a physical copy of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 was on sale at Best Buy for $39.99 at the time. That historical price can help frame the difference between a bundled digital copy and separately purchased physical ownership, but it should not be treated as a current offer.
| Option | What it offered | Historical price context |
|---|---|---|
| SpongeBob special-edition bundle | Custom console, character-themed controller, and digital game download | $699 announced US retail price for the March 2024 release, per Xbox |

| Third-party SpongeBob skins | Cosmetic coverings for a console and/or controller; not the custom-painted hardware or bundled game | HotHardware reported an approximate $15–$50 range from various sellers at the time |
The figures in the comparison are launch-era or article-era reports, not present-day prices. HotHardware’s reports on the console price, physical game price, and skin price range provide the cited context.

Is a skin a substitute for the special-edition console?
A SpongeBob-themed skin could be a lower-cost way to change the appearance of an existing console or controller. HotHardware reported an approximate $15–$50 range for skins from various sellers in 2024. Unlike the bundle, skins do not provide the custom-painted special-edition console or a game download. Their fit depends on the exact accessory and model, and no specific listing or compatibility was established in the cited reporting. Check the seller’s compatibility details before buying.

The available announcements and reporting establish the March 2024 limited US release, but do not verify current stock, a restock, present-day pricing, or an authorized retailer currently selling this exact edition. Treat $699 as the announced launch price only. If you are looking for the bundle now, verify the exact product name and seller directly before purchasing; a standard Series X, a separate game copy, or a compatible skin is not the same product.
