Before buying, check that your exact iPad appears in the current App Store compatibility list and make sure you have at least 18 GB of free space for installation.
Which iPads can run Divinity: Original Sin 2?
The App Store listing requires iPadOS 14.2 or later and an A12 Bionic chip or later. It also warns that the game will not work on devices outside its listed supported models. That model list and Larian’s support list do not align perfectly, so the chip requirement alone is not a safe compatibility check.
Check your exact iPad against the current [App Store listing] before purchasing. Larian also maintains a [support page with its supported-device information]. The listed devices include recent iPad, iPad Air, iPad Pro, and iPad mini generations, but the store’s model-specific compatibility warning should guide your purchase decision.
How much storage does the iPad version need?
Apple’s current listing says to have at least 18 GB of free space to install the full game. The displayed app download size is smaller, so do not use that figure as the amount of space to reserve. Free up the required space before starting the installation.

How well does it run?
Divinity: Original Sin 2 is a demanding, full-scale role-playing game on iPad. Available player accounts vary: some describe impressive graphics and stable performance, while others report frame-rate drops, warmth, or choppiness. These are individual reports from different devices and dates, not controlled tests or a reliable comparison of supported iPads.
For example, a 2021 App Store reviewer using an M1 iPad Pro praised the graphics and described the frame rate as very stable. Other reviewers have reported heat or uneven frame rates, and a 2023 M1 iPad Pro reviewer described substantial battery consumption. Those accounts can help set expectations, but they do not establish what the current version will do on your iPad.

There is no reliable current, model-by-model benchmark in the available sources for frame rate, temperature, or battery runtime. Do not assume that every supported iPad will run smoothly or expect a particular FPS. The game’s version history records past work on mini display resolution, tap registration in selected interface elements, mouse-wheel zoom, and memory-related crash fixes; that history does not establish current performance across today’s supported models.
What are the controls like?
The App Store lists touch controls, mouse and keyboard, and support for connected devices including controllers. Touch lets you play directly on the iPad, while a controller or mouse and keyboard may suit players who prefer physical input. Individual reviewers have described some friction with touch interaction, so control comfort is a matter of preference; there is no evidence that using a controller improves frame rate or resolves heat or battery concerns.

No. Larian says a game license applies only to the platform on which it was purchased. Owning the Mac version does not unlock the iPad version; see Larian’s [Mac-to-iPad licensing explanation].
