Check the server’s rules and settings before storing valuable items there. If you mean a different game, the answer may be different.
What “factory raid” means in Rust
“Factory” is not a special official raid category in Rust. Players may use the word for a base built around automation, crafting, or managing stock. Rust supports base building, raiding, and automation systems, and its overview describes players raiding other survivors’ bases for their goods: Facepunch’s Rust overview.

That means a factory base is generally subject to the same server rules as other player bases. There is no blanket rule in the cited materials that makes automated factories immune to raids or targets them specially.
Why private-server status does not settle the question
Facepunch permits private, unofficial, and community servers, subject to its guidelines, fair labeling, and applicable law: Community Server and Hosting Guidelines. Rust server operators can configure server details and use customized settings; access to a server can also be limited through owner-managed methods. The setup documentation does not say that making a server private disables raids: server setup guide and hidden-server guide.

So the practical answer depends on the individual server. It may allow raids, restrict them to certain areas or times, or use plugins and rules to protect bases. Read the listing and ask the operator if the policy is unclear; do not assume that a password, whitelist, or private listing means your factory is safe.
Check these rules before building
- PvE, PvP, or hybrid zones: Find out where player-versus-player combat and raiding are allowed. A server may have different rules in different areas.
- Offline protection and raid windows: Ask whether bases can be raided while their owners are offline, and whether raids are restricted to particular hours.
- Mode and modifications: Confirm whether the server runs Softcore or uses plugins that change raid mechanics. Operators can customize server experiences, so a mode name alone may not answer every question.
- Admin enforcement: Check how the server handles rule violations and whether protection is a game setting, plugin feature, or community rule.
- Wipes: Ask how often the map or player progress resets and what happens to automated builds when it does.
Community examples show players using “factory” for automated Rust builds, including on modded servers with PvE and PvP elements. That is an illustration of player terminology, not proof of how another server handles raids: community example.

Softcore has specific raid protections
Rust’s Softcore mode documents two protections: after a raider breaks a base’s tool cupboard (TC), the raider cannot seal or grief that base for 48 hours; and a player keeps 50% of their base-storage loot when raided.
