Cutlass damage depends on the attack: a regular slash is listed at 25 damage, while a charged lunge is listed at 60.
What “Heavy Sword” means
Heavy Sword and Rapier are names of Cutlass appearances in the appearance listings. The available references do not assign either skin a unique damage statistic. A heavier-looking blade is not evidence of a stronger hit.

How much damage each Cutlass attack does
The community-maintained Cutlass reference lists these values:
| Attack | Listed damage | What the value means |
|---|---|---|
| Standard slash | 25 | One ordinary hit. |
| Combo hit | 25 per hit | Three connected combo hits can total 75 damage. |
| Charged lunge | 60 | One successful charged attack. |
The same reference’s patch history records that the April 22, 2020 balance update raised regular strikes from 20 to 25 damage and heavy strikes from 50 to 60. These are community-maintained figures and historical patch notes; a current official Rare stat table was not located. The lunge’s higher listed damage belongs to the attack, not the equipped appearance.

Why a strike may appear to miss damage
Rare’s support article, “(UPDATED) Combat – Ranged & Melee Weapon Hit Detection,” updated April 16, 2026, says hit detection can fail in areas of intense movement simulation and can also be affected by poor server performance. RareCSM explains: “In areas of intense movement simulation, players may experience firing shots or striking a target that subsequently do not cause damage to their target.” A strike that looks like it connected but produces no damage does not show that a particular skin is stronger or weaker.
