Do Minecraft Add-Ons Disable Achievements? Bedrock Rules in 2026

Bedrock 26.30 removed the add-on achievement warning, and 26.52 fixed a specific Marketplace-world bug. Neither change guarantees every add-on is safe.

Sometimes—but it depends on the Minecraft: Bedrock Edition version, the add-on, and the world. Mojang’s Bedrock 26.30 changelog removed the warning shown when creating a world with add-ons enabled; that change does not confirm that every add-on preserves achievements. A later hotfix addressed a specific achievement bug in older worlds using Marketplace add-ons, while players have reported separate issues with third-party packs.

What changed in Bedrock 26.30, 26.50, and 26.52?

The version history matters because the warning change and the later fix are different things:

  • Bedrock 26.30: Mojang said it “Removed warning text that ‘you can’t earn achievements’ when creating a world with Add-ons enabled.” This removed the warning; it did not establish that every add-on is achievement-safe. Read the 26.30 Bedrock changelog.
  • Bedrock 26.50 and 26.52: The 26.52 hotfix changelog, posted September 25, 2026, says Mojang fixed an issue where older worlds with activated Marketplace add-ons disabled achievements at and after 26.50. The stated fix is specific to that Marketplace-related issue; it does not say that all third-party add-ons are covered. Read the 26.52 hotfix changelog.

Players also reported third-party packs affecting achievements after 26.50, including packs they described as visual or quality-of-life add-ons. Those are community reports, not an official rule for every pack or platform. See the Minecraft Feedback post. The 26.50 changelog does not provide a comprehensive add-on achievement rule. Read the 26.50 changelog.

Does this apply to Java Edition?

No conclusion about Java Edition follows from these Bedrock changelogs or Bedrock support instructions. The version-specific changes above concern Minecraft: Bedrock Edition; do not use them as a general rule for Java worlds.

How to check a world and remove an add-on safely

If you want to troubleshoot a Bedrock world, first identify the game version and whether the active pack is Marketplace content or a third-party pack, and whether it is a resource pack or behavior pack. The official sources do not provide a complete compatibility list for every combination.

  1. Back up the world first. Minecraft Help warns that disabling packs can change a world: add-on mobs may be removed and add-on blocks may be replaced with default blocks.
  2. For a single-player world: select Play, choose the pencil icon beside the world, open Resource packs or Behavior packs, select Active, then remove the pack you want to test.
  3. For a Realm: the Realm owner can edit the world’s active packs and deactivate the relevant resource or behavior pack.
  4. Reopen the updated game and check that world’s achievement status. Minecraft Help says disabling a pack does not remove it from device storage or the account. Official guidance does not document a universal way to restore eligibility to every world, so do not assume removing a pack will reverse an earlier achievement restriction.

These backup and deactivation instructions are from Minecraft Help’s Bedrock add-on troubleshooting guide.
