Yes. Subnautica’s Lava Lakes contain fish-like fauna, including the Crimson Ray, Magmarang, and Red Eyeye. The biome is also home to creatures that are not fish, including Lava Larvae, Lava Lizards, Warpers, and the Sea Dragon Leviathan.

Which fish-like creatures live in the Lava Lakes?

The Lava Lakes fauna list names three fish-like creatures: the Crimson Ray, Magmarang, and Red Eyeye. They share the biome with several other kinds of fauna, so “fish” does not describe everything you may encounter there. The Subnautica Wiki’s Lava Lakes page lists the biome’s fauna.

What other creatures are in the Lava Lakes?

The biome’s fauna list also includes the Lava Larva, Lava Lizard, Sea Dragon Leviathan, and Warper. These creatures differ from the fish-like fauna in both appearance and the kind of threat they pose.

Creature group Creatures listed What to know
Fish-like fauna Crimson Ray, Magmarang, Red Eyeye These are the fish-like creatures named in the biome’s fauna list.
Other fauna Lava Larva, Lava Lizard, Sea Dragon Leviathan, Warper These are also listed in the biome, but should not be described as fish.

Is the Lava Lakes area dangerous?

Yes. A walkthrough describes the Lava Lakes as Subnautica’s final biome, more than 1,300 meters deep and containing the Primary Containment Facility. It identifies Sea Dragons, Lava Lizards, Warpers, and Lava Larvae as hazards. Lava Larvae can attach to vehicles and drain their power, so the fish-like creatures are not the only fauna to consider when entering the area.
