Yes. If you are carrying a Fist of Darkness, it disappears when you die or leave the game, according to two community-maintained Blox Fruits wiki pages. The item cannot be stored in your Inventory or dropped, so use it before logging off or risking death.
What happens to the Fist of Darkness?
The Blox Fruits Wiki and Blox Fruits Wiki | Fandom both describe the same loss condition: the carried Fist disappears if you die or leave the game. These are community-maintained references, not official developer documentation.

The Blox Fruits Wiki also says you cannot put the Fist in your Inventory or drop it. There is therefore no ordinary inventory-storage or handoff method listed to protect a carried Fist.

If you intend to use it, avoid dying or leaving the game until you have completed that use. The wiki suggests waiting in a Safe Zone or using a private server, but those are community suggestions—not guarantees against every interruption or loss.

What can you use the Fist of Darkness for?
- Summon Darkbeard: Use the Fist at Dark Arena.
- Continue the Core Brain progression: Insert it in the Secret Laboratory at Hot and Cold. The Blox Fruits Wiki says this insertion saves the step, so you can continue after rejoining.
- Obtain the Slayer Skin: The wiki lists the Fist as one of the associated requirements.
Because the lab insertion is described as saving the progression step, this use differs from simply carrying the Fist: the wiki says you can rejoin and continue the Core Brain step after insertion.
How can you get another Fist of Darkness?
The community wiki lists two acquisition routes in the Second Sea: defeating a Sea Beast or finding one in a chest. It recommends hunting Sea Beasts and gives a 2.5% chance, but no official developer confirmation of that rate is established. The sources do not provide a controlled comparison or measured time-to-item for the two routes, so the practical choice is whether you prefer Sea Beast fights or checking chests.
