Which membership tier unlocks each Nintendo Classics library?
Nintendo’s current support overview separates the libraries by membership tier. The membership must be active on the Nintendo Account accessing the games.

Does another account’s membership work on the same console?
No. Nintendo says the Nintendo Account used to access the software must have its own active subscription, even if a different subscribed account is present on the console. A family membership may cover multiple accounts if they are included in that membership, but simply sharing a console with a subscribed account does not grant access to an unsubscribed account. Nintendo’s access FAQ states the account rule directly.

Can you play Nintendo Classics offline?
Yes, provided the account has an active membership. Nintendo requires the account to connect online at least once every seven days to verify that membership. Offline play does not remove the subscription requirement; if verification is overdue, reconnect the console to the internet.
What happens when the membership expires?
The account can no longer access the classic games while its membership is inactive. Nintendo says save data remains on the console and can be used again if the membership is renewed.

Does multiplayer or an accessory change the membership requirement?
No. A compatible classic game may support local or online multiplayer if the original game did, and some arrangements may require extra systems or accessories. Those requirements are separate from the membership needed to access the library; an accessory does not substitute for a subscription. Nintendo notes that online play is with friends. Check the game’s details for its specific multiplayer options.
