No. You can design and test classic Roblox clothing without Premium. The membership requirement applies when you publish clothing on the Marketplace and keep it on sale—not when you draw the design. Roblox’s current policy lists Roblox Plus or Premium 1000/2200 as eligible memberships for those selling steps.
Making clothes and selling them are different steps
Roblox’s classic clothing guide describes creating clothing with an image editor and testing it in Roblox Studio; it does not list Premium as a prerequisite for either task. You can work on a design and check how it looks on a character before deciding whether to upload it.
Marketplace selling has additional requirements. Under Roblox’s current Marketplace policy, the individual creator or group owner needs Roblox Plus or Premium 1000/2200 to publish Marketplace content and keep existing content on sale. The policy also lists identity verification, 2-step verification for publishing, and applicable fees.
What kind of Roblox clothes can you make?

#1 Best Overall
- Redemption: Online only. Robux cards can only be redeemed in a browser at Roblox.com/redeem. They cannot be redeemed in the Roblox mobile app or any video game console.
- Roblox is an immersive platform for connection and communication. Every day, millions of people come to Roblox to create, play, work, learn, and connect with each other in experiences built by our global community of creators.
- Get more with every Roblox Gift Card! From now on, when you redeem a Roblox gift card, you get up to 25% more Robux. Perfect for gaming, creating, and exploring- more Robux means more possibilities!
- Deck out your avatar and unlock additional perks in your favorite experiences when you use Roblox Gift Cards to purchase Robux (Roblox's virtual currency).
- Each gift card grants a free virtual item upon redemption.
- Classic T-shirts: Use a square image. Roblox gives 512 × 512 pixels as an example size.
- Classic shirts and pants: Use Roblox’s official templates so the design maps onto the character’s body.
Roblox notes that many user-generated Marketplace avatars do not support classic 2D clothing, so a classic item will not necessarily appear on every avatar.
How to make and test classic clothing
- Choose a type. Decide whether you are making a classic T-shirt, shirt, or pants. Get the appropriate image dimensions or template from Roblox’s classic clothing instructions.
- Create the image. Use an image editor to draw or assemble your design. The workflow does not specify a paid editor or a Premium membership.
- Test it in Roblox Studio. Apply the design to a rig and check how the texture wraps around the character. Roblox recommends testing before uploading or selling and says this test step has no fee. Its test and upload guide explains the process.
What you need to upload, publish, and sell
Uploading an asset is not the same as publishing it for sale. Roblox lists an 80 Robux upload fee for each classic-clothing submission. To publish on the Marketplace, the current policy also requires government ID verification, or a linked parental account with ID verification; 2-step verification; an applicable publishing advance; and Roblox Plus or Premium 1000/2200. A qualifying membership is also required to keep existing content on sale.
