No. You do not need to be in Ranked to play Clash Royale; Ranked is a separate competitive mode with its own unlock requirements. For September and October 2026, Supercell’s announced Trophy Road requirement is 13,500 Trophies, with a second route for players who reached Champion League in the previous Ranked season. If you meant Clash of Clans, its Ranked mode is also separate from ordinary play, but the available unlock details are from a 2025 announcement.
Do you need Ranked to play Clash Royale?
No. Ranked is an optional game mode, not a prerequisite for playing Clash Royale. The requirement determines when you can enter Ranked, rather than whether you can play the game.

How to unlock Ranked in Clash Royale
Supercell Support lists two access routes: meet the Trophy Road requirement or reach Champion League in the previous Ranked season. The Trophy Road requirement changes over time, so use the threshold for the season you are entering.
| Access route | Requirement | Timing |
|---|---|---|
| Trophy Road | 13,500 Trophies | September and October 2026, according to Supercell’s July 14, 2026 schedule |
| Previous Ranked season | Reach Champion League | Previous season; no separate calendar date stated by Supercell Support |
Supercell’s July 14, 2026 announcement sets the Trophy Road threshold at 13,000 for July and August, 13,500 for September and October, and 14,000 for November 2026. The Support page still gives a generic 13,000-Trophy figure, which does not match the newer schedule for September and October. For that period, use the dated schedule and check the in-game Ranked screen after a season transition for the displayed requirement. What if you mean Clash of Clans?
“Clash” can also mean Clash of Clans. A September 2, 2025 announcement described Ranked Battles as one of two Multiplayer Battle types and said they unlocked at Town Hall 7. That describes Ranked as a separate mode, not a requirement to play Clash of Clans. Because those eligibility details come from a dated announcement rather than current support documentation, check the live game for its current unlock rules.
