Half Sword has local split-screen co-op and 1v1, but its developer says it does not have online multiplayer. The developer suggests Steam Remote Play for playing with friends remotely; that is a way to access the local experience, not confirmation of native online matchmaking or online PvP.
What multiplayer does Half Sword have?
In its February 2026 FAQ, Half Sword Games says the game uses split-screen for both co-op and 1v1. The developer FAQ is the clearest current description of the available multiplayer modes.

The official Half Sword website also describes local multiplayer and same-screen duels. Steam’s store page lists “Single-player” among its features, while the developer FAQ gives the more specific details about local split-screen play; that broad store label does not erase the FAQ’s description of those modes. Can you play Half Sword online with friends?
The developer’s FAQ says “No” to online multiplayer and suggests Steam Remote Play as an alternative for playing with friends. The statement does not establish native online matchmaking, dedicated servers, or an online co-op or PvP mode. If you use Remote Play, you are accessing the local split-screen experience remotely rather than a separately confirmed online mode.

Is online PvP coming to Half Sword?
No online PvP release date is announced in the cited developer FAQ or Steam listing. A July 2025 developer reply said online multiplayer at release was “highly unlikely” and mentioned a possible later phase, but that was a pre-Early Access comment, not a commitment. The newer FAQ describes the selected multiplayer feature as split-screen co-op and 1v1; it does not promise future online play. The historical reply is in this Steam discussion.
When did Half Sword enter Early Access?
Half Sword entered Early Access on January 30, 2026, according to the Steam listing and the developer’s February 2026 FAQ. The FAQ estimated at least 6–12 months of Early Access development. That is an estimate for the Early Access period, not an online multiplayer release window.
