Yes. Assassin’s Creed Shadows lets players pursue optional same-gender romance paths with both protagonists: Naoe can romance Katsuhime, and Yasuke can romance Hori Hidemasa. These are player-selected story choices, not fixed canonical relationships. Romance choices are unavailable in canon mode.
Which characters can Naoe and Yasuke romance?

How do romance choices work?
Romance is optional and handled through dialogue. The developer AMA described “shorter and longer romance opportunities” for both Naoe and Yasuke. In the dialogue, romance options are marked with a heart icon, and players can decline them. Does canon mode remove romance?
Yes. According to PC Gamer’s guide, canon mode locks story choices, so romance options cannot be selected while it is enabled. Players who want to pursue a romance should play without canon mode.
Are Naoe and Yasuke’s romances canon?
No single romance is established as canon. GamesRadar reported that developer Luc said the team preferred to leave romance non-canonical in an Assassin’s Creed RPG, so each player could define their own canon.
