Why Erlang Shen is a fitting reference
Erlang Shen’s connection to transformation lore comes from his role in the novel. In the Chapter 6 Havoc in Heaven episode, he tracks Wukong through disguises and helps capture him, using his third eye to see through the changes. An independent Erlang Shen explainer describes the game’s late-game confrontation with him as tied to that history.
That makes a transformation-themed moveset a plausible fan reading of the encounter. It does not, by itself, verify the 73 count or prove that each attack corresponds to a transformation.
