As of October 4, 2026, the official Minecraft and Xbox pages reviewed list platforms and explain a cross-game cosmetic reward, but do not say that Dungeons II characters, campaign progress, gear, or save files transfer between platforms.
What is—and is not—confirmed
Minecraft’s official Dungeons II overview lists the game’s platforms but does not describe save syncing. An Xbox Wire article published September 26, 2026 also names Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, cloud, Game Pass, Steam, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. Being available on several platforms does not establish that progress syncs among them.

- Cross-play means people on different platforms can play together; it does not by itself mean their saves move between platforms.
- Cross-progression or cross-saves means progress or save data can be carried or synced across platforms. The official sources above do not confirm this for Dungeons II.
- Cross-game rewards are separate: a reward earned by meeting a condition in one game is not proof that progress transfers between games or platforms.
What the Hero Cape account rule means
Minecraft Help’s cape and cosmetic rewards article says the Hero Cape is tied to playing Minecraft Dungeons and then Minecraft Dungeons II with the same Microsoft account. Qualifying save data from the first game must be associated with that account. The page also says activity on some platforms may not qualify if the player can play without signing in.
Those are eligibility rules for a cosmetic reward. They do not say that Dungeons II saves, characters, campaign progress, or gear transfer between platforms.

Why the original game’s Cloud Saves article does not settle it
Minecraft’s Cloud Saves article describes the original Minecraft Dungeons. It says a Hero can be uploaded and downloaded on another supported device while signed into the same Microsoft account. That guidance is specific to the first game; it is not confirmation that Dungeons II uses the same system. Do not rely on it as a Dungeons II transfer guide unless Minecraft publishes sequel-specific instructions.
What to check before switching platforms
Until Minecraft or Mojang publishes a Dungeons II-specific save-sync explanation, treat platform-to-platform transfer as unconfirmed. Before starting or continuing on another device, check for an official support article or in-game save feature that explicitly names Dungeons II and your source and destination platforms. Look for whether syncing is automatic or requires a manual upload/download, whether the same Microsoft account is required, and whether save data is handled separately from purchases or DLC entitlements.

Minecraft’s Dungeons II overview gives September 29, 2026 as the release date and says, “You don’t need to play the first Minecraft Dungeons to play Minecraft Dungeons II, but you might get a better experience out of the sequel if you do!” That addresses whether the first game is required, not whether saves transfer.
