No official source confirms that Pokémon Legends: Z-A or its Mega Dimension DLC includes more than 40 new Mega Evolutions. The current official DLC page names seven Mega forms, but does not describe that list as complete or give a total for the game and expansion combined. The “over 40” figure should therefore be treated as unsubstantiated, not as a confirmed count.
Which Mega Evolutions does the DLC officially show?
The current Mega Dimension DLC page features these seven forms:
- Mega Raichu X
- Mega Raichu Y
- Mega Chimecho
- Mega Baxcalibur
- Mega Zeraora
- Mega Lucario Z
- Mega Garchomp Z
The page notes that Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y use different Mega Stones. Hoopa is also featured, but the page does not list it as one of these Mega forms.
Does that mean there are exactly seven new forms?
No. Seven is the number of Mega forms currently named on the official DLC page, not a confirmed total for the DLC or the full game. The page does not call its list complete, and it does not confirm an aggregate count above 40. Without an official complete count, neither “exactly seven” nor “over 40” is established by that source.

What is Mega Dimension?
The Pokémon Company describes Mega Dimension as additional story content set around spatial distortions appearing in Lumiose City, which the player investigates with Team MZ. The content is intended for after the main story is complete. The official DLC page currently labels it “Available Now.”
Official pages give different calendar dates for availability: the DLC announcement originally scheduled the additional story content for December 10, 2025, while Nintendo Support says the content became available December 9, 2025. Those dates are reported by their respective sources rather than treated here as one universal release date.

What do players need to play the DLC?
Nintendo Support says players need Pokémon Legends: Z-A on the system to play Mega Dimension. The game can be played on a Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2 where its virtual game card is loaded, provided that system also has a copy of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, physical or virtual. Nintendo Support also says the additional story content includes Mega Stones for Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y.

Pokémon announced a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Mega Dimension bundle on one game card, scheduled for October 29, 2026. That is a future scheduled release, not an already available product as of October 8, 2026. The announcement describes a Switch 2 Edition and the DLC together; it does not provide a total number of new Mega Evolutions.
