You can play with people on PC, PlayStation 4 or 5, and Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S, and EA says you can switch platforms and continue where you left off. To play with a friend, add them as an EA Friend in the game’s Social & Spectate menu.
Which platforms can play together?
EA lists cross-play for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. On PC, the supported storefronts named by EA are the EA app, Epic Games Store, and Steam. The current EA FAQ says Early Access began September 16, 2025, on those platforms; it says Android and iOS are planned to follow later, so they are not among the currently listed cross-play platforms.

EA’s official name for the game is skate., not Skate 4. The FAQ explains that it is not a sequel, remake, or remaster: “It’s skate. Just. skate. Period.” EA skate. FAQ
How to add a friend from another platform
Cross-play is enabled by default. Use the in-game friend search to connect with someone on a different platform:

- Open Social & Spectate.
- Choose Search and enter your friend’s username or ID.
- Select the correct account and choose Add EA Friend.
- Have your friend accept the request in their game.
Existing EA friends, and friends from some connected EA or platform lists, may also appear in the in-game list. The exact list can depend on connected accounts. EA Help: How to use cross-play in skate.
Can you turn cross-play off?
Yes. EA says the setting can be changed in Social & Spectate settings or in the map/general settings. Xbox cross-play behavior may also be controlled by Xbox platform settings, so changing the in-game option may not be the only setting to check on Xbox. Turning cross-play off can prevent you from joining friends on other platforms.

Does progress carry over when you switch platforms?
Yes. EA describes cross-progression as letting you log out on one platform, launch the game on another, and continue from where you left off. In its April 24, 2025 developer Q&A, EA gave that explanation in the context of playtesting: players with access to more than one platform could switch and “start exactly where you logged out.” EA’s August 27, 2025 Early Access update stated that, at Early Access, the game would have full cross-play and cross-progression across PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X. EA’s public explanations do not specify that every purchase, entitlement, setting, or item transfers, and they do not explain whether progress can be merged between separate EA accounts. Treat cross-progression as account-based continuity when switching platforms, not a guarantee that all content or data will transfer or that separate accounts can be combined.

EA says it requires an EA account and persistent internet access; a platform account and subscription may also be required depending on the platform and circumstances.
