Qualcomm describes GSR as technology developers integrate into a game’s rendering pipeline and names particular games that featured it. A compatible device alone does not prove that a title supports it.
Why a game needs GSR support
GSR is a rendering technology for developers to incorporate into a game, rather than a universal graphics setting supplied by owning a Snapdragon phone or tablet. Qualcomm introduced the first version in 2023 as a spatial-aware, single-pass upscaling technique. Its later GSR 2 implementation uses temporal anti-aliasing and upscaling (TAAU), with a convert pass to prepare buffers, an upscale pass, and an optional sharpen pass. Qualcomm says GSR 2 expects low-resolution depth, color, and motion-vector inputs. These implementation differences mean support depends on the game and its rendering path.

Qualcomm says GSR is compatible with most GPUs, while delivering its best performance on Snapdragon platforms. That statement concerns the technology’s GPU compatibility and performance; it does not mean every game has integrated it. Qualcomm’s 2023 GSR announcement describes the feature and its named game examples.

- Justice Mobile
These are announcement-era examples, not a live or exhaustive compatibility list. The announcement does not establish whether each title still exposes GSR on every current device, game build, or regional release. Qualcomm’s October 22, 2024 GSR 2 announcement describes developer resources and implementation samples, but does not provide a complete player-facing list of games currently shipping GSR 2.
How to check a particular game
- Confirm the feature name. Look specifically for Qualcomm Snapdragon Game Super Resolution, GSR, or SGSR. A generic mention of “super resolution” does not establish that a game uses Qualcomm’s technology.
- Check the current game build. Look in the game’s graphics settings and current release notes for an explicit GSR reference. Developer announcements are useful confirmation when available.
- Match the platform and device. Verify the exact game version, device or GPU, and operating system covered by the developer’s statement. Support on one device or release does not establish support on all others.
- Distinguish shipped support from developer tools. Qualcomm provides GSR software and samples through its Snapdragon Game Toolkit. The toolkit page says full documentation access requires signing in or registering and accepting a license agreement. GSR 2 resources include an open-source repository, an Unreal Engine plugin, and Vulkan and OpenGL ES samples, as described in Qualcomm’s GSR 2 announcement and samples page. A sample or plugin makes integration possible; it does not prove that a retail game has implemented the feature.
The Qualcomm materials cited here do not provide a comparable live, player-facing GSR status checker. For a specific title, explicit confirmation in its current graphics settings, release notes, or a developer statement is stronger evidence than the device brand or a general claim about upscaling.

Do not confuse Qualcomm GSR with Windows Auto SR
Microsoft Automatic Super Resolution (Auto SR) is a separate Windows feature, not another name for Qualcomm GSR. Microsoft documents a per-game opt-in and settings path, along with supported resolution and display-mode requirements and a Game Bar indicator for whether Auto SR is active. Those Windows controls do not establish that a game supports Qualcomm’s game-integrated GSR. See Microsoft’s Automatic Super Resolution documentation for Auto SR’s own conditions and setup.

What performance claims do—and do not—tell you
Qualcomm’s 2023 description that “1080p games can become sharper 4K games” is an illustrative product explanation, not a promise that every game renders at 1080p or upscales to 4K. Similarly, Qualcomm’s 2024 statement that games running at 30 FPS could reach “60+ FPS” is a general benefit claim, not a universal or independently verified result.

Qualcomm reported a 0.905 ms timing for its two-pass fragment-shader GSR 2 variant at 2.0× scaling; the same implementation-specific table reported 1.024 ms at 1.7× and 1.107 ms at 1.5×. Qualcomm’s stated test context was a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 at maximum GPU frequency and a 1260 × 2800 output. These figures describe that implementation and test context, not expected performance in every supported game or device. See the GSR 2 technical announcement.
