SEGA’s official profile says Tails dislikes thunder, but it does not explicitly say he is afraid of it. The profile also describes how being bullied over his two tails left him insecure—and how adventures with Sonic helped him grow more courageous and confident.
What is Tails afraid of?
The clearest specific answer in SEGA’s official Tails character profile is thunder: it lists thunder among the things he dislikes. That wording establishes an aversion, not an explicitly stated fear or phobia. The profile does not explain why he dislikes thunder.
What does Tails’s backstory say about fear and confidence?
The profile says Tails was bullied because he had two tails. After seeing Sonic run, he felt courage and admiration, followed him, and gained courage and confidence through their adventures together. This points to a character who develops confidence; it does not establish that he is generally fearful.
Does Tails act bravely?
Yes. In Sonic Adventure 2, Tails goes to Prison Island to rescue Sonic. SEGA’s official Sonic Adventure 2 stage description calls him “Fearless and brave” as he sets out to rescue his hero. That describes his conduct in this game, not a guarantee that he never feels fear.

Is Tails afraid of thunder?
The most precise answer is that official character material says he dislikes thunder, but does not directly label that dislike as fear. His backstory includes insecurity, and the same profile says he builds courage and confidence with Sonic. His bravery in Sonic Adventure 2 fits that growth without contradicting the stated thunder aversion.
