Yes: the Novac shown in a Fallout television preview differs from Fallout: New Vegas in two visible details. PC Gamer reported that the preview shows Dinky the T-Rex facing the hotel and an inground pool, while the game’s dinosaur faces away from the hotel. Fan mods do change Novac’s motel, but the available mod listings do not establish that either one recreates those specific preview details or “fixes” them.
What differs between Novac in the game and the TV preview?
In its December 6, 2025 report, PC Gamer compared a television preview of Novac with the location in Fallout: New Vegas. The reported differences are:
- Dinky’s orientation: In the preview, the T-Rex faces the hotel; in the game, it faces away from it.
- The pool: The preview includes an inground pool. PC Gamer’s comparison notes it as a visible difference from the game.
Those are differences between two depictions, not proof that one is an error. The report does not give an official explanation for the changes or establish whether they reflect a deliberate redesign, production choices, or another reason.
Why does Dinky matter to Novac?
Novac is a location in Fallout: New Vegas, and Dinky the T-Rex is one of its recognizable attractions. The fan-maintained Fallout Wiki’s Novac entry says the in-game dinosaur resembles a real-world dinosaur statue in Henderson, Nevada. The landmark helps make the preview’s changed orientation noticeable to players familiar with the game.

Have fans made a mod that fixes those differences?
There are fan-made mods that alter Novac’s motel, but the two listings below do not document a fix for the preview’s pool or Dinky’s orientation. Neither listing is identified as the project implied by the claim that fans have “fixed” Novac.
| Mod | What its listing says it changes | Relevant caveat |
|---|---|---|
| Wasteland Touch-ups – Novac | The author describes changes intended to make Novac feel more like a small settlement, including revisions to the Dino-Bite Motel lobby, player home, rooms, and exterior across listed versions. | The listing names the Dead Money DLC as a requirement. |
| Novac Motel Overhaul | The author describes polishing elements that look unfinished or out of place. | The listing warns of possible conflicts with other mods that edit exterior navmeshes. |
These are motel-focused overhauls, not verified reconstructions of the television preview. Before installing either, check its current Nexus Mods page for requirements and compatibility with the rest of your load order.

- Beyond the Wasteland: The world of New Vegas is more expansive than ever. Each new distinct area presents a fresh set of branching-quests, remarkable personalities and more chances to play the Savior or the Pariah to the natives of New Vegas.
- Dead Money: Lured into a trap masquerading as the Sierra Madre Casino, you are thrown into a high stakes game where you'll have to work with three other lost souls if you want to survive.
- Honest Hearts: An expedition into Utah's Zion National Park goes horribly wrong and you become embroiled in a war between tribes and put into a conflict between a New Canaanite missionary and the mysterious Burning Man.
- Old World Blues: Transported to the Big MT research crater, you are enlisted by the Think Tank to save them from their own science experiments that have gone horribly out of control.
- Lonesome Road: Ulysses, the original Courier Six, contacts you and promises to answer why he refused to deliver the Platinum Chip at the start of Fallout: New Vegas, but only if you make one last journey into the treacherous canyons of the Divide.
Is the TV version of Novac supposed to match the game?
The available comparison establishes what looks different, but not what the adaptation was intended to reproduce or why it diverges. Without a statement from the show’s creators or a mod listing that specifically documents the pool and dinosaur orientation, it is not possible to say that the preview is inaccurate by design, that it departs from a required blueprint, or that a particular fan mod corrects it. For a direct comparison, use the PC Gamer preview report alongside the game and treat the mod pages as evidence of motel changes only.
