No—not as an officially announced console. As of October 8, 2026, the official Sony and PlayStation pages reviewed do not announce a PlayStation 7 (PS7). That means there is no confirmed PS7 to buy or preorder in those sources; it does not establish whether Sony has an unrevealed project in development.
What Sony has officially announced
Sony’s official PlayStation pages reviewed for this article do not name a PS7 or provide a launch date, price, specifications, or preorder information. The careful answer is that a PS7 has not been officially announced in those sources—not that Sony is or is not developing one privately. PlayStation’s official US site presents the PS5 and PS5 Pro as its current console options and links to ways to buy them.
Sony’s company history says the PlayStation 5 launched in 2020. That is useful context about the current generation, but it is not evidence of when a successor might arrive. Sony’s published company history
What is confirmed—and what is still speculation
- Confirmed: Sony’s official US PlayStation site lists PS5 and PS5 Pro consoles and purchase options.
- Not confirmed in the official pages reviewed: the PS7 name, its existence as a product announcement, release timing, price, specifications, or preorders.
- Not established: whether Sony has an internal or unrevealed successor project. The absence of a public announcement cannot answer that.
Online predictions, purported specifications, and unofficial listings should be treated as speculation unless Sony confirms them. A retailer listing by itself does not establish an official announcement.

What to buy if you want a PlayStation now
If you want a console now, compare Sony’s listed PS5 and PS5 Pro models on the official PlayStation site. They are current purchase options, not PS7 alternatives or evidence that a PS7 is imminent. The page links to buying options, but availability and retailer-specific prices can vary.
If you are specifically waiting for a PS7, rely on a direct announcement from Sony for confirmation rather than rumor-based dates or listings.
