What the ring ceremony means
At maximum Rapport with Alain, an eligible companion can take part in a special event involving a ring paired with Alain’s Ring of the Unicorn. The official system description says the counterpart ring can be given to only one companion. It does not establish whether that choice can later be changed or provide a complete eligibility list. The official English materials describe the moment as a special event or ceremony. The Japanese system page calls it a “契約の儀式,” roughly a contract or covenant ceremony. Neither source explicitly names it romance or marriage. Calling it romance-like is a reasonable interpretation of the ring exchange, but it is not the official system label. How Rapport works
Rapport is a broader relationship system, not just a path to the ring event. Companions can have Rapport conversations, and characters with high Rapport can gain a formation bonus when placed together in the same unit. Official game site

Ways to build Rapport
- Fight together: Rapport rises mainly when characters fight in the same unit.
- Share an inn meal: Eating together increases Rapport; dishes differ in how many characters can join and how much Rapport they provide.
- Give gifts: You can give gifts to characters assigned as guards, raising their Rapport with Alain. A gift that suits the recipient’s preferences raises it more.
These options let players develop bonds and unlock their gameplay benefits without the ring ceremony being the sole purpose of Rapport. Official game site
