Neither cross-play nor cross-progression has been announced for Waltz and Jam. The official information currently identifies the game as a single-player title on Steam and one-player on a single Nintendo Switch 2 system. Steam, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2 versions are planned for worldwide release on December 3, 2026, but no official listing says that players on different platforms can join one session or move a save between platforms.
That is an “unconfirmed,” not a permanent-impossibility, answer. Features can be added or clarified before launch, so treat any claim that the game definitely has cross-play or cross-save as unsupported unless Flyway Games or KRAFTON publishes a specific update.

The short answer: no announced cross-play or cross-progression
Cross-play means people using different systems—such as Steam and PlayStation 5—can play together in the same multiplayer session. Cross-progression (often called cross-save) means your account, unlocks, or campaign progress can be continued on another platform.
The official material available on October 13, 2026 does not announce either feature. That conclusion is based on what the listings actually describe:

- Steam’s store listing labels the game “Single-player” and lists Steam Cloud. It does not list multiplayer or cross-play.
- Nintendo’s Switch 2 listing specifies “Single system (1)” under the number of players and lists Nintendo Switch Online Save Data Cloud. It does not promise a save that can be used on Steam or PS5.
- KRAFTON Japan’s October 9, 2026 announcement names Steam, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2, with a planned worldwide release on December 3, 2026. It does not announce cross-platform play or shared progression.
Because the announced player modes are single-player or one player on one system, there is currently no official basis for planning a multiplayer session with a friend on another platform.
What the announced versions tell us

“Not announced” is deliberate. It does not prove that a feature can never be implemented; it means the official pages available at the time of writing do not commit to it. A platform announcement by itself confirms where the game is planned to appear, not how accounts, matchmaking, or saves will work between those versions.
Why a single-player listing matters for cross-play
Cross-play is a multiplayer feature. To support it, a game normally needs an online session system, matchmaking or invite functions, and a way for players on different platforms to connect. The Steam page instead presents Waltz and Jam as single-player, while Nintendo presents one player on a single system.

Narrative cooperation is not the same thing as two people controlling characters in an online or local session. Nothing in the cited listings says that a second player can join, that there is online co-op, or that platform owners can enter the same game.
Therefore, questions such as “Can I play with a friend on another platform?” have no confirmed yes answer. Until an official update adds a multiplayer mode and specifies supported platforms, buying different versions should be treated as a choice for individual play, not a way to create a shared cross-platform session.
Why cloud saves do not prove cross-progression
Cloud backup and cross-progression solve different problems. A platform cloud service can copy a save within that platform’s ecosystem so that the same platform—or another device using the same platform account—can restore it. Cross-progression requires an additional, game-level link between versions, such as a shared game account and a service that recognizes the save on Steam, PS5, and Switch 2.

Steam Cloud
Steam lists Steam Cloud as a feature. That establishes cloud handling for the Steam version; it does not state that the cloud file is readable by the PS5 or Switch 2 versions. The listing also recommends a controller for play, but a controller recommendation has no bearing on multiplayer or save transfer.
Nintendo Switch Online Save Data Cloud
Nintendo lists Save Data Cloud for the Switch 2 version and notes that a Nintendo Switch Online membership is required for that backup service. This indicates platform-specific backup through Nintendo’s service. The listing does not say that the backed-up data can be imported into a Steam or PS5 copy, and a Nintendo cloud backup should not be described as cross-save.
PlayStation 5
The cited platform announcement confirms a PS5 version but does not state a PS5 cloud-save arrangement or any account-linking method. There is consequently no supported claim that a PS5 save will synchronize with either of the other announced versions.
Release timing and what could still change
The planned worldwide release date is December 3, 2026, which is still in the future as of October 13, 2026. Store pages and platform metadata can be updated before release, and a publisher can announce features after an initial platform reveal. The responsible status today is therefore “not announced in the official sources reviewed,” rather than “permanently impossible.”
A future announcement would need to be specific to change the answer. Look for language that explicitly identifies:

- which platforms can enter the same multiplayer session;
- whether multiplayer is online, local, or both;
- the account or service used to connect players;
- whether progress, unlocks, and settings are shared between versions; and
- any restrictions, such as separate purchases, region limits, or a feature that arrives after launch.
A statement that the game is available on three platforms is not enough by itself. Nor is a generic reference to cloud saves. The announcement must connect the platforms to cross-play or cross-progression directly.

How to check the status before you buy or start a second version
- Check the current store page for your platform. Confirm whether the player-count description still says single-player or one player on one system, and note any newly added multiplayer or account-linking text.
- Read the publisher’s latest announcement or support note. A genuine cross-play notice should name the participating platforms; a cross-progression notice should explain how a save is associated with an account.
- Do not use cloud terminology as a shortcut. “Steam Cloud” and “Save Data Cloud” describe backup services unless the publisher separately says that saves move between platforms.
- Check the game’s menus after installation. A sign-in or account-linking screen can indicate a shared service, but its presence alone still does not establish that all platforms share saves or multiplayer sessions. Use the in-game help text or the publisher’s documentation for the exact scope.
- Test with a low-stakes save only after the feature is documented. If cross-progression is officially supported, follow the stated linking and synchronization steps before investing substantial play time on a second platform.
What this means for common buying and play scenarios
You want to play with a friend who owns another platform
There is no announced multiplayer or cross-play feature to rely on. The safest assumption is that each person would be playing separately, even if one copy is on Steam and the other is on PS5 or Switch 2.
You want to switch from Steam to Switch 2
Do not assume that Steam Cloud can be restored on Switch 2. Nintendo’s Save Data Cloud can protect the Switch 2 version for an eligible Nintendo account, but the cited listing does not describe importing a Steam save.
You own more than one platform and want one continuous campaign
No shared progression system has been announced. Unless a later official statement says otherwise, plan for platform-specific saves and the possibility that a second copy starts from the beginning.
You are choosing a platform for solo play
Cross-play and cross-progression are not currently differentiators supported by official evidence. Choose based on where you prefer to play and which platform’s save-backup terms suit you. On Steam, the listing includes Steam Cloud; on Switch 2, Nintendo lists Save Data Cloud subject to Nintendo Switch Online membership.
Terminology that prevents common misunderstandings
- Cross-play: different platforms share one multiplayer session. No such support is announced.
- Cross-progression/cross-save: progress follows an account between platform versions. No such support is announced.
- Cloud save: a platform service stores or backs up data. The announced Steam and Nintendo services are not evidence of cross-platform transfer.
- Multiple platforms: the game being planned for Steam, PS5, and Switch 2 only confirms separate platform releases. It does not imply shared matchmaking or saves.
On the evidence currently available, Waltz and Jam should be treated as a single-player game with platform-specific cloud features, not as a cross-platform multiplayer or cross-save title.
