Which platforms can play together?
The official Where Winds Meet Xbox launch FAQ, dated June 8, 2026, says Xbox players can play online with people on other platforms and names Xbox, PC, PlayStation, and mobile in its shared-character-data guidance. Steam also lists Where Winds Meet as supporting cross-platform multiplayer. Together, these sources establish broad cross-platform online play across those platforms.

The available official guidance does not specify whether every activity, mode, or matchmaking queue works identically across all platforms. It is safest to understand crossplay as support for online play across platforms, not as a guarantee about every individual activity.
Does crossplay mean your character carries over?
No. Crossplay and cross-progression are related but separate features:

- Cross-progression lets you continue your character and progress on another platform when you use the same bound account.
The official cross-progression account-linking guide, dated November 10, 2025, covers Steam, Epic Games, the official PC launcher, and PlayStation. The newer Xbox FAQ adds Xbox to its shared-data guidance, while the mobile FAQ, dated December 9, 2025, confirms mobile-to-PC crossplay and cross-progression, including character data, progress, and purchases.
How to link your account before switching platforms
If you want to use an existing character on a new platform, link or sign in to the account that already holds that character before creating a new one on the destination platform. The official guide warns that, in the flow it describes, linking is not possible if both accounts already have a character.

- On PC or PlayStation: Open Settings → Other → User Center → Link Account. For the official PC launcher, the guide also describes reaching User Center from the title screen.
- Use the account that already has your character. For example, when moving from Steam to PS5, link the Steam account on PlayStation before creating a character there.
- On mobile: If you already have PC or console progress, link the mobile account before creating a mobile character, or log in with your current account, as directed by the mobile FAQ.
The Xbox FAQ gives the same core warning: an Xbox character created first cannot then be bound to an existing account from another platform. If you have already created separate characters and cannot link them, contact the game’s support at [email protected]; do not assume the characters can be merged.
Why server region matters
The official Xbox FAQ states that crossplay and cross-progression apply only within the same server region. Check that you and your friends—or your existing account and new platform—are using the same region. Platform compatibility alone does not make different server regions interchangeable.

What carries across platforms?
The Xbox FAQ says character data is shared across Xbox, PC, PlayStation, and mobile, and that premium currency is tied to the account and shared across platforms. The mobile FAQ specifically describes mobile-to-PC sharing of character data, progress, and purchases. These statements do not establish every platform’s storefront, refund, or regional purchase rules, so check the relevant platform’s terms for a specific transaction.
