Yes—but the confirmed headset-VR edition is ZONE OF THE ENDERS: The 2nd RUNNER – M∀RS. Konami lists M∀RS for PS4 with PlayStation VR and for PC through Steam, and describes the entire game as playable in VR from inside Jehuty’s cockpit. The original releases and the 2012 Zone of the Enders HD Collection should not be treated as VR editions.
Which Zone of the Enders version has VR?
ZONE OF THE ENDERS: The 2nd RUNNER – M∀RS is the version to look for if you want a headset-based VR experience. Konami calls it a complete VR remaster and lists PS4, PlayStation VR, PC and Steam among its platforms. The PlayStation Store listing identifies the PS4 version, while the Steam listing describes VR support for the PC release.

M∀RS is a remaster of ZONE OF THE ENDERS: The 2nd Runner, the 2003 mech-action game. It is not a VR patch for every game in the series, and it does not add headset support to the earlier releases. The VR feature belongs specifically to this later M∀RS edition.

The campaign itself is intended to be playable in VR.

Version-by-version VR comparison
| Release | Platforms or identifying details | Full-game headset VR | VR-specific content |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zone of the Enders (original) | Included with Zone of the Enders HD Collection alongside The 2nd Runner. | Not identified in the official sources reviewed. | None established. |
| ZONE OF THE ENDERS: The 2nd Runner (original 2003 release) | The game later remastered as M∀RS, according to developer Cygames. | The original release is distinct from the VR remaster; headset support is not established for it. | None established. |
| Zone of the Enders HD Collection (2012) | Konami lists PS3 and Xbox 360. The European product page gives a release date of 30 November 2012. | Not identified in the official sources reviewed. | None established. |
| ZONE OF THE ENDERS: The 2nd RUNNER – M∀RS | PS4 with PlayStation VR, and PC through Steam. | Yes. Konami describes the full game as playable in VR; the store listings corroborate VR support. | First-person cockpit play, a 3D hangar, a 3D model viewer and a cinematic theater that unlocks after completion. |
The table’s most important distinction is between the 2012 collection and M∀RS. Both contain The 2nd Runner in some form, but only M∀RS is documented as the headset-VR edition.
What VR means in M∀RS
The main game uses a first-person cockpit view
Konami describes the VR presentation as first person from inside Jehuty’s cockpit. That changes the point of view from the usual external, third-person framing: the mech surrounds you rather than appearing as a character viewed from behind. The description concerns the game’s enhanced VR mode, not a claim that every display mode in M∀RS is first person.
The complete campaign is the VR content
The publisher’s wording says the “full game” can be experienced in VR. That is the useful answer for anyone worried that the headset feature might be confined to a short showcase. The available evidence supports VR play across the main game, while the exact comfort options, control presets and performance settings can depend on the platform and the player’s setup.

Additional spaces and viewing modes
M∀RS adds content designed specifically for a headset:
- 3D hangar: a space for interacting with Jehuty.
- 3D model viewer: a way to inspect the game’s mechs and related models in three dimensions.
- Cinematic theater: after you complete the game, story sequences can be revisited in a theater with cut-scenes presented in VR.
These additions are separate from the campaign but help explain why M∀RS is described as a complete VR remaster rather than a conventional remaster with a token headset mode.
Non-VR play remains available
M∀RS is not VR-only. Konami presents the same release as high-speed mech action in third-person 4K as well as a full VR experience. You can therefore buy the M∀RS edition for its remastered version of The 2nd Runner and play on a conventional screen, with VR as an available mode when supported hardware is connected.

What the PS4 and PC listings establish
PS4 and PlayStation VR
Konami’s M∀RS product information pairs the PS4 release with PlayStation VR, and the PlayStation Store has a corresponding listing. For a console purchase, the identifying combination is the M∀RS title plus the PlayStation VR designation. A listing for the older HD Collection on PS3 or Xbox 360 is a different product and should not be substituted.

The evidence establishes PS4/PlayStation VR support. It does not establish that every later PlayStation headset or console automatically inherits that support.
PC and Steam
Konami lists PC and Steam for M∀RS, and Steam’s listing describes VR support. On PC, the relevant product is the Steam edition of M∀RS, not a digital copy of the 2003 game or the console HD Collection. Steam’s VR label confirms the feature, but the sources reviewed do not provide a universal headset, operating-system or graphics-card specification. Check the live Steam system-information panel before buying if your computer or headset is close to the platform’s limits.

Is M∀RS compatible with PSVR2?
PSVR2 compatibility is not established by the official sources used for this version comparison. The confirmed wording is PS4 with PlayStation VR, plus PC/Steam VR. Do not interpret the general word “VR” in a store description as a promise that the game has a native PSVR2 version, a PS5 upgrade or guaranteed backward compatibility.
If you own PSVR2, look for a current statement from the publisher or the platform holder before assuming the PS4/PlayStation VR listing will work with it. In the absence of that confirmation, the accurate description remains “supports PlayStation VR on PS4” rather than “supports PSVR2.”
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteHow to identify the correct edition before buying
- Read the complete title. The VR edition includes The 2nd RUNNER – M∀RS. The word M∀RS is the quickest way to distinguish it from the original game and the HD Collection.
- Check the platform line. For console play, look for PS4 and PlayStation VR. For computer play, look for PC/Steam and a VR-support designation.
- Reject collection-only listings. Zone of the Enders HD Collection is the 2012 PS3/Xbox 360 release. Its inclusion of The 2nd Runner does not make it the M∀RS remaster.
- Confirm the headset claim in the current store page. Store metadata can change, and the reviewed evidence does not establish support for every headset generation. Use the platform’s present VR label rather than relying on a reseller’s shortened title.
- Decide whether you need VR or only the game. M∀RS can be played on a normal screen, so a headset is relevant only if you want its cockpit view and VR extras.
What happens if you already own an older release?
Owning the original The 2nd Runner or the HD Collection does not, on the evidence available here, unlock headset VR. M∀RS is a separate remastered edition with its own platform listings and VR features. To use the documented VR mode, you need the M∀RS release on a supported platform.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
The HD Collection still has a different purpose: it packages the original Zone of the Enders and The 2nd Runner together. If you want both older games in one 2012 collection, that is the relevant release; if you want the confirmed full-game VR treatment, it is not the relevant release. The available sources do not establish save-transfer behavior between these editions, so do not assume an existing progress file will carry over.
Why online listings can be confusing
The names overlap
Both the HD Collection and M∀RS refer to The 2nd Runner, and some listings shorten the title. A search for “Zone of the Enders VR” can therefore return pages for several different products. The suffix M∀RS is the decisive identifier.
The platforms changed between releases
The HD Collection is identified with PS3 and Xbox 360, while M∀RS is identified with PS4/PlayStation VR and PC/Steam. Platform generation is a useful second check when a listing’s title is abbreviated.
“VR” can describe different scopes
For M∀RS, the publisher explicitly describes the full game in VR and lists extra VR spaces. A generic “VR compatible” phrase on an unrelated listing may not tell you whether it means the campaign, a viewer or a short bonus mode. Match the listing to the exact M∀RS title and the official full-game description.
A quick decision checklist
- Want the established headset version? Choose ZONE OF THE ENDERS: The 2nd RUNNER – M∀RS.
- Playing on PS4? Verify the listing says PlayStation VR.
- Playing on PC? Use the Steam edition and confirm its current VR designation.
- Looking at the PS3/Xbox 360 HD Collection? Treat it as non-confirmed for headset VR.
- Considering PSVR2? Wait for a current official compatibility statement; the reviewed sources do not provide one.
- Want the original Zone of the Enders as well? Remember that M∀RS is the remaster of The 2nd Runner, not a VR conversion of both games.
Bottom line for shoppers and returning players
The answer is version-specific. M∀RS is the only release in the official material reviewed that is clearly identified as a full-game headset-VR edition, with PS4/PlayStation VR and PC/Steam support. The original releases and the 2012 HD Collection remain separate products whose headset-VR support is not established. M∀RS also adds a cockpit-based first-person view, a 3D hangar, a model viewer and a post-completion cinematic theater, while retaining conventional third-person play for users who do not use a headset.
