Streamline Servers, Pingplayers and Sparked Host list Sydney locations, while 4netplayers lists Australia as a served area. Published prices range from an AUD-priced slot model to US-dollar RAM plans, but no available listing provides an independently measured Australian ping result.
Use the location claims as a shortlist, not a guarantee. Confirm the data-centre city, GST treatment, current price and cancellation terms on the live checkout page, then test the server address from the networks your group actually uses.

Australian DST hosting options at a glance
The table separates what each listing actually states from details that remain unknown. A city named by a search-result summary is useful for finding candidates, but it is not proof that a particular order will be placed in Sydney. Check the location selector immediately before payment.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Streamline Servers | Sydney is listed among its Australian locations | A$9.00 per month base plus A$0.75 per slot | 12–36 slots | The only listing here that combines a named Sydney location with a DST price directly in AUD |
| Pingplayers | AU Sydney is listed | From $2.69 per GB for 30 days; fixed tiers around $8–$18 per 30 days (USD) | RAM-based plans; exact DST slot limit is not stated in the result | Advertises a 99.9% uptime SLA; confirm what the SLA covers and its remedies |
| Sparked Host | Plan configurator offers Sydney, Australia | From $8.80 per month for 4 GB RAM (USD) | 4 GB on the cited starting plan | The listing may be stale, so verify both location and price at checkout |
| 4netplayers | Australia is named as a served area; no city is given | AUD 9.85 in structured data | Not stated | Do not assume Sydney until the order flow identifies the city |
| GTXGaming | Sydney is reported by a roundup | $11.28 per month (USD) | 12 slots | Secondhand roundup figure, not vendor-verified; Australian operation needs confirmation |

What the prices mean for a real Australian group
Streamline’s slot formula
Streamline publishes a monthly base of A$9.00 and A$0.75 for each slot, with a 12-to-36-slot range. Applying that formula gives A$18.00 for 12 slots (A$9.00 + 12 × A$0.75) and A$36.00 for 36 slots (A$9.00 + 36 × A$0.75), before any tax or promotion. A 16-slot configuration would be A$21.00 under the same published formula. Treat these as arithmetic illustrations of the advertised model, not a live quote.
RAM-based plans
Pingplayers quotes $2.69 per GB for 30 days and also shows fixed tiers around $8–$18 per 30 days. Because the result does not identify a DST player cap for those tiers, compare the RAM allocation, CPU policy, storage and permitted slots in the configurator rather than comparing the headline price alone.
Sparked Host’s cited starting point is $8.80 per month for 4 GB RAM in Sydney. The result summary warns that the page may be stale; verify that the 4 GB plan still supports DST, whether slots are capped separately and whether the displayed currency is USD at checkout.

Other published amounts
4netplayers has AUD 9.85 in structured data, but neither a city nor the associated resource limits are stated. GTXGaming’s $11.28 monthly, 12-slot figure comes from a roundup rather than a vendor page, so it should be treated as a lead for checking, not as a firm offer.
Budget for the complete bill
- Convert every USD amount using your card or payment provider’s rate; the converted amount will not be identical to a static AUD estimate.
- Ask whether Australian GST is included or added at checkout. The published summaries do not establish a GST policy.
- Check whether backups, extra storage, additional slots, a second shard and mod-related resources cost extra.
- Confirm the renewal price. A launch promotion can make the first invoice lower than recurring months.
- Read refund, suspension and cancellation terms before uploading a world you cannot easily replace.
Ping from Australia: why a Sydney label is not a measurement
No cited source reports a measured ping from an Australian residential or mobile network to any DST host. A Sydney data centre should generally shorten the physical route for players in Australia compared with an overseas region, but the actual result depends on your state, ISP, evening congestion, peering and the host’s network. Do not treat a location badge as a latency guarantee.
Test before committing
- Ask support for the IP address or test endpoint of the exact Sydney node, not a generic company website address.
- From each important player’s normal connection, run
ping SERVER_IPfor several minutes. Record the average, worst result and packet loss at different times of day. - Use
tracert SERVER_IPon Windows ortraceroute SERVER_IPon macOS and Linux to identify an unusually long route or a congested hop. A hop that does not answer ICMP is not automatically a fault; judge the final-hop results. - Launch a temporary DST instance and have the most distant player connect during your usual play period. Observe rubber-banding, failed saves and disconnects, not just the first ping number.
- Repeat the test over Wi-Fi and wired Ethernet when possible. A local wireless problem can look like a hosting problem.
DST traffic is not guaranteed to respond to ordinary ICMP tests, and a blocked ping does not prove the game is unreachable. In that case, use the host’s trial policy or a short first billing period and test an actual connection.

How to choose between the Australian candidates
Choose by location certainty
If Sydney is essential, prioritize an order page that lets you select “Sydney” or “AU Sydney” and displays it on the final invoice. An “Australia” service area without a city is not enough when your goal is a particular route. Save a screenshot of the selected region and the server’s IP so support can investigate a later migration.
Choose resources for your world, not a slot number
Player slots describe the maximum simultaneous connections, not the CPU time or memory available to caves, large bases and heavily modded worlds. Ask for the guaranteed RAM, CPU sharing policy, storage type, backup schedule and whether the Master and Caves shards run on the same allocation. None of the cited summaries supplies a complete hardware specification, so missing information should be considered “not stated,” not assumed to be unlimited.
Read the uptime promise carefully
Pingplayers advertises a 99.9% uptime SLA. That percentage is meaningful only with its exclusions, measurement window, maintenance rules and compensation terms. Determine whether network outages, scheduled maintenance, game updates and customer-caused crashes are excluded. Other listings in this set do not state an uptime SLA in the available summaries.

Evaluate support and recovery
Before paying, ask how quickly a failed node is replaced, whether staff can restore a specific backup and whether you can download the cluster files. A low monthly price is poor value if a corrupted world requires starting over. Look for an automated backup retention period and a manual “restore” control in the panel.
Setting up a rented DST server
Panel names differ, but the sequence is broadly the same. Keep a local copy of every configuration file and world backup before changing settings.
Recommended Free Tools
- Select the game and region. Choose Don’t Starve Together, select Sydney or the verified Australian region, set the player-slot limit and review the recurring currency and tax line.
- Create the server account. Complete the host’s billing and security steps, then open the game-server control panel. Enable two-factor authentication if it is offered.
- Supply a DST server token. Generate the dedicated-server token through your Klei account, copy it exactly and paste it into the panel’s token field. Never publish the token in a mod page, chat message or public support ticket.
- Configure the cluster. Set the cluster name, password, server description, region label and pause behavior. Keep the name and password documented for your group.
- Configure worlds and shards. Decide whether to run only the Master world or add the Caves shard. Set world size, season, resource abundance and rollback settings deliberately; larger or more complex worlds can require more memory.
- Add mods cautiously. Install one mod at a time, restart and test. Record each Workshop ID and version so you can remove the last change when a game update breaks compatibility.
- Start and validate. Watch the console for token, port or file-permission errors. Join from two different Australian connections, travel between shards if enabled, save, disconnect and reconnect.
- Schedule protection. Turn on automatic backups, set a retention period, and download occasional copies to your own computer. Test a restore on a disposable instance so you know the procedure before an emergency.
Hosts that advertise DST but not a confirmed Australian region
Shockbyte, XGamingServer, ZAP-Hosting, Nodecraft, GPORTAL and Citadel appear in the available listings as DST hosts, but those results do not name an Australian location. Shockbyte’s cited prices are $6.99 per month for six players and $11.99 for 12 players (USD). XGamingServer is shown from $7 per month, with a shared-hardware claim that is not independently verified in the listing. These services may still be usable if they offer an Australian node in the live selector, but do not infer Sydney availability from the fact that DST itself is supported.

Common problems and practical fixes
The server is in Australia but still feels laggy
Compare wired and Wi-Fi play, test at peak evening hours and run a route trace. If only one player has problems, investigate that player’s ISP or home network. If everyone sees spikes, send the host timestamps, trace results and server logs and request a node check or migration. Do not add more mods until the network issue is isolated.
The world crashes after adding mods
Stop the server, restore the last known-good backup and disable the newest mod first. Check the console for a named dependency or memory error. Re-enable mods individually, and leave extra RAM headroom for caves and large bases rather than filling every advertised slot.
Players cannot connect after a restart
Confirm that the server finished loading, the cluster password has not changed and the token is still present. Recheck the displayed IP and port in the panel, then test from a second network. A provider-side firewall or a node migration requires host support; repeatedly regenerating the world can destroy the evidence needed to diagnose it.
The invoice is higher than the advertised amount
Compare the checkout currency, GST line, renewal price, slot count and optional backups with the original quote. Save the invoice and the plan page, then ask billing to explain each difference before disputing a charge.
A sensible buying decision
For a group that specifically wants Sydney and an AUD starting point, Streamline’s published A$9 base plus per-slot formula is the clearest benchmark. Pingplayers is worth comparing when a 99.9% SLA and RAM-based sizing matter. Sparked Host offers a stated 4 GB Sydney configuration but needs a freshness check. 4netplayers supplies an AUD figure while leaving the city and resources unstated. GTXGaming should be verified directly because its Australian location and price come from a secondary roundup.
Whichever candidate you select, make the decision in this order: confirm the exact Australian city, calculate the recurring bill including tax, verify RAM and backup terms, test from your players’ real networks, and only then migrate a valuable world.
