Don’t Touch the Color Game? How the Challenge Works—and the App

“Don’t touch the color” can mean a group challenge with colored paper, or Don’t Touch The Color, a similarly named iPhone and iPad game. The available sources do not establish an official connection between them. The shared idea is avoiding a color: in the app, you avoid the changing forbidden color; in a tabletop example, players respond to a verbal prompt by avoiding a called-out color.

What is the Don’t Touch the Color game?

It is not established as one standardized game with a single official rule set. The phrase is used for a tabletop or social challenge involving colored papers or squares, and for a mobile reflex game called Don’t Touch The Color. The sources describe them separately and do not show that one inspired or is officially connected to the other.

How to play the paper version

In one social-video example, colored papers are placed on a table and players try not to touch the color named in a prompt. That gives a simple way to try the challenge, but it is an example—not an authoritative rulebook. The available sources do not establish standard player numbers, scoring, or a required setup.

Simple materials and setup

  • Put assorted-color construction paper or cardstock on a table. These are practical options, not required or specified by an official set of rules.
  • Have one person call out a color while the others try to avoid touching it.
  • Agree on any extra rules—such as what counts as a mistake—before starting, since no canonical scoring system is established.

How the mobile app works

Don’t Touch The Color is a fast-reflex color game. Its App Store description says the player avoids the displayed forbidden color as it changes continuously. This is a touchscreen game, unlike the group-and-paper example.
