DOOM: The Dark Ages launched on May 15, 2025, so its original preload window has passed. Bethesda estimated the base game at about 80 GB on Xbox and 82 GB on PlayStation at launch. For PC, Bethesda specifies 100 GB of free space on a 512 GB-or-larger NVMe SSD; that is a storage requirement, not a published download or final install size.
How big is DOOM: The Dark Ages?
Bethesda’s support page gives approximate launch-era install estimates for the base game: about 80 GB on Xbox and about 82 GB on PlayStation consoles. Bethesda notes that these figures can vary, so treat them as estimates rather than guaranteed current sizes. Updates and platform differences may change the space shown on your system. No. On PC, Bethesda specifies 100 GB of available space on a 512 GB-or-larger NVMe SSD. Free space is room the drive must have available; it is not the same measurement as the download size or the final installed game size. Bethesda does not publish a current PC download or installed-size figure in the requirements. Bethesda Support: PC system requirements.

What else should PC players check?
Storage is only one part of the PC requirements. Bethesda lists a hardware ray tracing-compatible GPU for the minimum tier as well as the higher tiers. Its specifications pair each tier with a target resolution, frame rate, and preset; these are Bethesda’s stated targets, not independently tested performance results. How to plan your storage
- On Xbox or PlayStation: use Bethesda’s approximate base-game launch estimate—about 80 GB for Xbox or 82 GB for PlayStation—as a planning reference, not a promise of the current installed size.
- On PC: confirm you have 100 GB free on a compatible NVMe SSD, then check the platform’s current download information for the actual amount it will fetch.
- If you have Premium Edition content: account for Bethesda’s separate estimate of about 17 GB, but do not treat it as an exact add-on total for every installation.
- If space is short: free space on a compatible drive or consider an NVMe SSD only if your PC supports one. Bethesda’s capacity specification alone does not mean every player needs to purchase storage.
