What “overpowered” means in this list
Here, “overpowered” describes the way a historical FUT card was perceived to perform relative to expectations, not a formal rating category. The ranking offers no scoring formula or consistent statistical test. Its implied criteria include pace, strength, agility and dribbling, finishing, and how readily a player could fit into a squad.

That distinction matters: a card can feel unusually effective because its attributes suit the game’s mechanics or because it offers a useful squad link, even if it is not one of the highest-rated cards. “Best” in this context means memorable and feared by players, not definitively superior across every FIFA edition or mode.

Why pace became part of the legend
Several entries show why speed is so prominent in accounts of these cards. GiveMeSport reports 96 pace for Marvell Wynne’s FIFA 13 card and Jonathan Biabiany’s FIFA 15 card. Sports Illustrated reported 94 pace for Gabby Agbonlahor’s FIFA 10 card, and 92 pace and 86 dribbling for Nilmar’s FIFA 12 card. These are historical figures attributed to those publications, not ratings for present-day releases.
Pace was not the only ingredient in the reputation. Strength could help a forward resist challenges, while agility and dribbling could make a fast player harder to track. The articles’ nostalgia also reflects squad-building: players remember not just individual attributes, but combinations that worked together in their FUT teams.

Why the headline says 50 but the list names 49
The five categories contain 8, 15, 17, 6 and 3 entries respectively: 49 distinct players in total. Although the headline promises 50, the published category lists do not identify a fiftieth name, and the article does not resolve the discrepancy. There is no reliable basis to add another player.
How to read this ranking
Treat it as a snapshot of FIFA community memory, published by GiveMeSport on 27 September 2022 and carried by OneFootball in partnership with Yahoo Sports.
