Download a Behringer driver only from the official product page for your exact hardware model. Open that model’s Downloads area, inspect Drivers or Software, and choose the package whose operating-system label matches your computer. A driver for one Behringer interface, mixer or controller should not be assumed to work with another model.
The correct package depends first on the model and second on the operating system. Behringer’s WING page, for example, lists separate Windows packages for Windows 7/8 and Windows 10/11. Those files are examples for WING, not universal downloads for every Behringer product.

What a Behringer driver does
A driver is the software layer that lets Windows or another operating system communicate with a USB audio interface, digital mixer or related hardware. For recording, it can expose the device’s inputs and outputs to a digital audio workstation (DAW), provide the expected channel count and support stable, low-latency audio. Without the right driver, a device may appear only as a generic USB sound device, fail to appear in the DAW, or offer fewer inputs and outputs than the hardware supports.
Drivers are different from firmware and editor applications. Firmware runs inside the hardware and changes its internal operating code. An editor or control application lets you configure a mixer or interface from the computer. The Downloads area may list all three, so read each file’s description before installing it.

Identify the exact Behringer model first
Read the model name printed on the front or rear panel and compare it with the original documentation. Names such as WING, X32 and UMC202HD refer to different products; even products in the same family can require different packages or have different connection methods.
- Write down the complete model name, including suffixes such as HD or a model-number revision.
- Check whether the unit is a mixer, audio interface, controller or another USB device.
- Note whether you are connecting by USB, another digital connection or only using analog audio. A driver download is relevant only when the computer communicates with the device through a supported interface.
- Record your operating-system edition and architecture before downloading. Windows 10 and Windows 11 packages are not automatically interchangeable with Windows 7 or Windows 8 packages.
If the label is difficult to read, use the original manual or packaging. Do not identify the hardware solely by a similar-looking photograph; Behringer’s catalog covers many categories, including audio interfaces, and a near match can lead to the wrong installer.
Where to download the official package
- Open Behringer’s official website and search for the exact model.
- Open the product page rather than a general search result for a similarly named device.
- Locate Downloads. On the WING page, downloads are grouped under Documentation, Firmware, Drivers, Software, Media and Drawings.
- Open the Drivers section first. If it is empty, inspect Software for a package described as an audio driver, then read the model documentation.
- Compare the operating-system wording, version number and model name with your notes. Download only the matching installer.
- Keep the installer in a known folder until you have confirmed that the device works. This makes a rollback or reinstall easier.
If the model page has no driver entry, do not substitute a package for another Behringer product. Check the manual and Behringer’s technical-support or service-center resources for that model, especially when the product is discontinued or the official page is temporarily unavailable.

WING driver versions: a concrete example
Behringer describes WING as a 48-channel USB audio interface and lists integration information for Windows, macOS and Linux. The Windows driver entries shown on the WING product page are:
| Hardware | Driver listing | Operating-system label |
|---|---|---|
| WING | WING USB Audio Driver version 5.12.0 | Windows 7/8 |
| WING | WING USB Audio Driver version 5.72.0 | Windows 10/11 |
These version numbers are the current listings checked in 2026 for WING. They do not establish that an X32, UMC202HD or any other model uses the same driver. The model page and its operating-system notes remain the authority.
Install a Behringer driver on Windows
- Prepare the system. Save work in your DAW, close recording and playback applications, and connect the computer to power if it is a laptop. Use a direct USB port when possible instead of an unpowered hub.
- Disconnect only when instructed. Some installers require the hardware to be unplugged during setup; others expect it to remain connected. Follow the instructions displayed by the installer for your model.
- Run the installer. Open the downloaded package, approve the Windows security prompt when you have verified that it came from Behringer, and accept the installer’s terms. Keep the default destination unless the documentation says otherwise.
- Complete any restart. Restart Windows if requested. Audio drivers may not register fully until the restart has finished.
- Reconnect or power-cycle the unit. Plug the device into the same direct USB port, turn it on if it has a power switch, and allow Windows a moment to finish device setup.
- Check Windows audio devices. In Windows Settings, open System, then Sound, and review the input and output device lists. For recording work, verify that the Behringer device appears as an available input rather than selecting a different microphone.
- Configure the DAW. Open the DAW’s audio-device or driver settings, choose the Behringer driver or device, and enable the inputs and outputs you need. Select a sample rate supported by both the project and the hardware.
If Windows reports that the best driver is already installed but the DAW still cannot use the device, Windows may have selected a generic audio driver. Return to the model-specific installer and confirm that the exact Behringer package completed successfully.

macOS and Linux: verify the model instructions
The WING overview explicitly references Windows, macOS and Linux integration, but the driver names displayed on that product page are Windows-specific. This distinction matters: an operating system may support a device without requiring a separate vendor installer, or the model may provide a dedicated package with different instructions.
- Open the exact model page and read the macOS or Linux notes before downloading anything.
- Do not install a Windows executable on macOS or Linux, even if the file name contains the same model.
- On macOS, check the system’s audio-device list and then select the Behringer hardware in the DAW. Follow any model-specific permission or setup prompts.
- On Linux, follow the model documentation and distribution-specific audio instructions. The WING overview’s Linux reference does not prove that every Behringer product has an identical Linux driver package.
If no platform-specific download is listed, use the documentation and technical-support route rather than a third-party driver archive. A generic USB-audio class connection may expose basic playback while still lacking the channel routing or low-latency features needed for multitrack recording.
Choose the correct download type
| Download section | What it is for | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Drivers | Operating-system communication with the hardware | When the computer or DAW cannot access the device correctly, or the model requires a vendor audio driver |
| Firmware | Internal operating code in the hardware | Only when the model documentation calls for a firmware update; it is not a replacement for a computer driver |
| Software | Editors, control utilities or other computer applications | When you need the listed application’s functions; install separately from the driver unless the installer combines them |
| Documentation | Manuals and setup information | When you need model-specific installation, compatibility or recovery instructions |
Never flash firmware simply because a driver is missing. Firmware updates can have their own power, connection and version requirements; interrupting one can leave the hardware unusable until recovery procedures are followed.

Set up the device in a DAW
- Connect and power the Behringer unit before launching the DAW, unless the model manual specifies another sequence.
- Open the DAW’s audio preferences and select the installed Behringer driver or device. On systems offering multiple driver modes, choose the mode documented for the model.
- Set the project sample rate to a value the hardware supports. A mismatch can produce silence, clicks or repeated prompts to change the rate.
- Enable the required input and output channels. A multichannel device may show many channels even when only a few are enabled by default.
- Create a test track, select one Behringer input, and record a short signal. Monitor the meters and play the recording back through a Behringer output.
- Once the test works, save the DAW’s device configuration as a template if you regularly use the same hardware.
For a WING setup, remember that the product is presented as a 48-channel USB audio interface. The number of channels you can use in a project still depends on the DAW, its channel-routing settings and the sample-rate configuration.

Check the physical connection first
- Confirm that the device is powered and that its indicators behave normally.
- Try a known-good USB cable of the required type.
- Move the cable to another direct USB port. Avoid hubs while diagnosing detection problems.
- Disconnect other unnecessary USB audio devices temporarily to rule out selection or bandwidth confusion.
Verify the package and operating system
- Compare the installer’s model name with the label on the hardware, character for character.
- Confirm that the package’s Windows label matches your Windows release. The WING listings separate Windows 7/8 from Windows 10/11.
- On macOS or Linux, confirm whether the model actually supplies a vendor driver or relies on the operating system’s audio support.
- Remove or disable conflicting audio drivers only when Behringer’s instructions call for it. Do not delete unrelated system drivers at random.
Check the DAW rather than only the desktop sound panel
A device can appear in the operating system while remaining unselected in the DAW. Open the DAW’s audio settings, choose the Behringer device, enable its input and output channels, and verify the sample rate. If the DAW is open while you install or reconnect the hardware, close and relaunch it so it can rescan the driver.

If the product page is unavailable, discontinued or missing a driver entry, consult Behringer’s technical-support and service-center links and the original documentation. Support can identify an archived package or explain whether the product uses a generic operating-system driver. Avoid random third-party driver sites, which may provide an unverified or mismatched installer.

Is downloading a Behringer driver safe?
The safest source is the official Behringer product page for the exact model. Check that the download is listed under the model’s own Downloads area, that the operating-system label is correct and that the installer name matches the hardware. Keep Windows security protections enabled, scan a downloaded file with your normal security software if required by your organization, and do not run an installer obtained from an unofficial mirror.
Safety also means avoiding unnecessary changes. Do not install firmware, editors or unrelated packages when you only need the audio driver. Create a restore point or other normal system backup before replacing a working driver, and keep the previous installer available in case the new version causes a compatibility issue.
When to reinstall or roll back
Reinstall the driver when the exact model and operating system are correct but the installation was interrupted, the device disappeared after an update, or the DAW cannot load the driver. First close audio applications, disconnect the hardware if the installer says to do so, run the matching installer again, restart when prompted and reconnect the device.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
If a new driver introduces dropouts or prevents the DAW from opening, stop changing multiple settings at once. Follow Behringer’s model-specific rollback instructions, restore the previous known-good package if one is available, and retest with a simple project. Record the driver version, operating-system version and sample-rate setting so support can reproduce the problem.
Quick Recap
