Download the official PlayStation Plus PC app from Sony’s installer page. PlayStation Now is the legacy name many users still search for; Sony’s current PC streaming service is PlayStation Plus. In the United States, PC cloud streaming requires PlayStation Plus Premium, an adult PlayStation account, a compatible controller, and broadband of at least 5 Mbps.
Important: the Windows app streams eligible console games. It does not download PlayStation games as native Windows installations.

Is PlayStation Now still available?
PlayStation Now is no longer the current name for Sony’s subscription service. Sony folded the service into the PlayStation Plus membership structure. For Windows users, the relevant product is the PlayStation Plus PC app.

Download PlayStation Plus for PC
Sony’s current membership information identifies Premium as the tier that includes cloud streaming. Availability, catalogues, age rules, and plan names can vary by country, so check the official PlayStation Plus page for your region.
What you need
- An adult PlayStation account.
- PlayStation Plus Premium in markets where Premium is offered and PC streaming is available.
- A compatible controller. Sony specifically lists the DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller.
- Broadband internet of at least 5 Mbps. This is a minimum, not a guarantee of smooth or low-latency streaming.
- A Windows PC meeting Sony’s listed requirements.

Sony’s US support page currently lists Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, but does not explicitly list Windows 11. The installer may work on Windows 11, but it should not be described as officially supported solely on the basis of that page. Check the current installer or PlayStation Support if Windows 11 compatibility is important.
How to install PlayStation Plus on Windows
- Open Sony’s official PlayStation Plus PC download page.
- Download the Windows installer.
- Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Allow any driver installation prompts that appear during setup.
- Launch the PlayStation Plus PC app.
- Sign in with an adult PlayStation account, or create one.
- Connect a compatible controller.
- Subscribe to PlayStation Plus Premium if the account does not already have PC streaming access.
- Choose an eligible game and select the streaming option.
Use the official download host rather than a software mirror. Avoid cracked installers, “offline” PS Now packages, fake update utilities, and search results that repackage Sony’s software.

The PC app is a streaming client. Games run remotely and the video is sent to your Windows computer; the app does not install console games as native Windows executables.

Premium members can stream eligible games from the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog and Classics Catalog, but not every catalogue title is available for PC streaming. Availability depends on your country, membership tier, age, and the current catalogue. Games can also leave the service.
Sony says PC-app streaming requires the subscriber to be 18 or older. Catalogue access also ends when the membership ends or when a title is removed. You do not permanently own a game merely because it was available through PlayStation Plus.
Streaming versus downloading
- On PC: you download the app and stream eligible games.
- On PS4 or PS5: some catalogue games can be downloaded to the console. PS5 games can only be downloaded to a PS5, and some PS3 Classics remain streaming-only.
Therefore, “download PlayStation Plus for Windows” means downloading the application—not downloading PlayStation Plus games to your hard drive.
Controller, audio, chat, and DLC limitations
Controllers
Sony officially lists the DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller. Some third-party PC controllers using XInput may work, but Sony does not guarantee full compatibility. A wired USB connection is the best starting point when troubleshooting. A keyboard and mouse may be usable for navigating the app, but a compatible controller is required to play.

Headsets and audio
Game audio is routed through the PC’s speakers or headphones. According to Sony’s PC support page, a headset connected to the controller will not work with the app; connect headphones directly to the computer instead.
Voice chat and multiplayer
- PlayStation Party Chat is not currently supported in the PC app.
- In-game voice chat may work when the individual game supports it.
- Online multiplayer can work when supported by the streamed title.
- Local multiplayer is supported on compatible games but is limited to two players on PC.
DLC and add-ons
Sony says DLC and add-ons cannot be used while streaming a PS Plus game. Buying an add-on does not turn a streamed catalogue game into a permanently playable Windows game.
Improve streaming quality
Sony’s stated minimum is 5 Mbps, but speed alone does not determine the experience. Latency, jitter, packet loss, Wi-Fi congestion, and other traffic can cause delay, blur, or stuttering.
- Use Ethernet where possible.
- If using Wi-Fi, use a stable 5 GHz or newer network and stay near the router.
- Pause downloads, cloud backups, torrents, and video streams.
- Temporarily disable VPNs or proxies while troubleshooting.
- Check other devices using the connection.
- Test at the time you normally play, including during busy periods.
Streaming latency is especially noticeable in fighting games, rhythm games, competitive shooters, and precision platformers. A connection that meets 5 Mbps may still be unsuitable for those genres.

Troubleshooting
The PlayStation Now download is missing
Use the current PlayStation Plus PC installer. The “PlayStation Now” search term refers to the former branding.
The download button does not work
- Confirm that the address is Sony’s official download host.
- Check whether your browser blocked the download.
- Avoid old cached pages and third-party mirrors.
- Confirm that PC streaming is available in your country.
- Check PlayStation Network Status for a service problem.
The app installs but will not start a game
Verify that you are signed into the correct account, have an active Premium membership, are using an adult account, have connected a controller, and have selected a title eligible for PC streaming. Also check whether the game has left the catalogue.
The controller is not detected
- Connect the controller by USB.
- Close and reopen the app.
- Re-pair Bluetooth if you are using a wireless connection.
- Disconnect other gamepads.
- Confirm that Windows detects the controller.
- Try a known-compatible DUALSHOCK 4.
Do not assume that every Xbox, generic USB, Bluetooth, or arcade controller is supported.
The stream is blurry or stutters
Try Ethernet, stop background traffic, move closer to the router, disconnect other devices temporarily, and disable VPN or proxy connections. Investigate latency and packet loss rather than relying only on a speed-test download number.

A listed game cannot be streamed
Some games are unavailable for PC streaming even when they appear in a PlayStation Plus catalogue. Streaming eligibility varies by title, region, plan, and time.

Use Remote Play if you own a PS4 or PS5 and want to access your own console from Windows. Sony’s current Remote Play page lists different PC requirements, including Windows 10 64-bit or Windows 11. Those requirements should not be substituted for the separate PS Plus PC app’s currently listed Windows 8.1/10 requirements.
Is PlayStation Plus Premium worthwhile on Windows?
It is a good fit if you want a rotating console-game catalogue without buying a PlayStation console, already have a compatible controller, and have a stable low-latency connection. It is a poor fit if you need native Windows downloads, keyboard-and-mouse controls, permanent ownership, DLC support during streaming, Party Chat, or consistently low latency for competitive games.
