For the original Sound Blaster Audigy Fx, identified by Creative as model SB1570, the primary download is Creative’s official Sound Blaster Audigy Fx Software Pack for Windows. It includes the device driver and Creative applications. Creative records that package as released on 12 August 2015 at 116.89 MB. Windows 11 lists SB1570 as supported, although a newer Windows 11 build can expose problems that were not present during Creative’s initial testing.
Use the Microsoft Update Catalog entry only when its Windows 10-and-later Audigy FX package is the appropriate fallback. That entry is a separate 3.2 MB driver dated 1 June 2015, not the full Creative software pack.

Identify the card before downloading anything
“Audigy Fx” is not enough to identify the installer. Creative’s support documentation uses SB1570 for the original PCIe Sound Blaster Audigy Fx. Audigy Fx V2 and other Sound Blaster models are different products and can require different packages.
Check the hardware label
- Shut down the computer and disconnect its power if you need to remove the side panel.
- Look for “Sound Blaster Audigy Fx” and the model number SB1570 on the card, its box or its documentation.
- If the card is already installed, open Device Manager by right-clicking Start and choosing it. Expand Sound, video and game controllers. A partially installed card may appear as an unknown multimedia or audio device instead of showing its retail name.
Do not install an SB1570 package on an Audigy Fx V2 or another Sound Blaster card merely because the names look similar. If you cannot establish the model, identify the hardware first.

Choose between the two Windows packages
Creative’s full package and Microsoft’s catalog entry serve different purposes. Their dates and sizes are not interchangeable evidence that one file is a newer version of the other.

Use Creative’s software pack for a complete installation
Start with the official Creative support page for Sound Blaster Audigy Fx (SB1570). Select the Windows version installed on the computer and the exact model shown on the page. The larger software pack is the appropriate choice when you want the driver and Creative control applications together. Creative’s user guide states: “To take full advantage of your Sound Blaster Audigy Fx audio card, you need to install device drivers and applications.”

Use the catalog driver as a targeted fallback
The Microsoft Update Catalog entry is useful when Windows needs only the driver, when the Creative package is unavailable to your system, or when an administrator distributes drivers through Microsoft’s catalog. It does not represent the full Creative application bundle. Confirm that the entry says Windows 10 and later and that it corresponds to Audigy FX before downloading it.
Download the official SB1570 package
- Open Creative’s support site and search for Sound Blaster Audigy Fx or SB1570.
- Open the product support page, not a download page for Audigy Fx V2 or another Sound Blaster model.
- In the operating-system selector, choose the Windows version installed on the target PC. If the page asks for architecture, choose the architecture shown in Settings > System > About > System type.
- Locate Sound Blaster Audigy Fx Software Pack for Windows. Check the displayed date and size against the 12 August 2015 and 116.89 MB records, bearing in mind that Creative can change filenames or page presentation.
- Save the installer to a known folder such as Downloads. Keep the browser window open until the download completes, and do not run a file whose product name identifies a different Sound Blaster model.
The driver download itself is free. Creative’s support page is the primary destination; use a third-party mirror only if you can independently establish that it is the exact SB1570 package, because mirrors can host outdated or mismatched files.

Install the driver and Creative applications
- Close games, media players, voice-chat programs and audio editors. These applications can keep the old driver in use.
- Open the downloaded Creative installer from File Explorer. If Windows displays a security prompt, verify that the file is the package you intentionally downloaded before allowing it to run.
- Follow the setup wizard. Leave the driver selected. Install the accompanying Creative applications if you want the control panel and the other functions supplied by the software pack.
- When the wizard asks for a restart, restart Windows rather than postponing it. A reboot lets Windows load the new audio service and device driver together.
- After signing in, wait for Windows to finish detecting the card. Open Device Manager and confirm that the Audigy Fx appears under Sound, video and game controllers without a warning icon.
Installing only a generic Windows audio driver can produce basic sound while leaving Creative controls unavailable. The full driver-and-application installation is the route Creative documents for using the card’s complete feature set.
Select Audigy Fx for playback and recording
- Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and open Sound settings.
- Under Output, choose the speakers or headphones connected to the Audigy Fx. If several audio devices are listed, do not assume that the first one is the card.
- Under Input, select the microphone or line-in endpoint connected to the Audigy Fx.
- Play the test tone in Sound settings. Then test the microphone in an application that uses recording.
- If you want every application to use the card, open More sound settings, select the Audigy Fx playback device on the Playback tab, and choose Set Default. Repeat on the Recording tab for the desired input.
Install through Microsoft Update Catalog when appropriate
- Open Microsoft Update Catalog and search for the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy FX entry for Windows 10 and later.
- Read the product description, date and architecture fields before selecting Download. The recorded package is 3.2 MB and dated 1 June 2015.
- Extract the downloaded archive if Microsoft supplies it as a compressed file.
- In Device Manager, right-click the Audigy or unknown multimedia device, choose Update driver, select Browse my computer for drivers, and point Windows to the extracted folder.
- Restart when Windows requests it, then select the Audigy Fx endpoints in Sound settings.
This method supplies the catalog driver only. It will not necessarily install Creative’s control applications, so use the Creative software pack instead when those applications are required.

Troubleshoot a failed or incomplete installation
The installer says no compatible device was found
- Recheck the model. The SB1570 package is not a universal Audigy installer.
- In Device Manager, look under Other devices as well as Sound, video and game controllers. An unknown multimedia device can still be the newly installed card.
- Shut down the PC, reseat the PCIe card, and make sure the retaining screw is secure. Follow the computer or motherboard manufacturer’s safety instructions when working inside the case.
- Remove a previously installed package for a different Sound Blaster model through Settings > Apps > Installed apps, restart, and run the SB1570 installer again.
Windows still shows a warning icon
- Open Device Manager and double-click the affected device.
- Read the device status and error code. Choose Driver and note the provider and version.
- Use Uninstall device. If Windows offers to remove the driver software, select that option only when you are replacing a clearly mismatched or damaged installation.
- Restart, then run the Creative package again. If you are using the catalog route, use Update driver > Browse my computer for drivers and select the extracted catalog folder.
Windows reports that the device is working, but there is no sound
- Check that the speakers or headphones are plugged into the Audigy Fx output rather than the motherboard’s audio jack.
- Confirm the selected output in Sound settings and check the application’s own output selector. A game can continue using a monitor, headset or HDMI device even after Windows changes its default.
- Open the volume mixer and make sure neither the system nor the application is muted.
- Disconnect other USB, HDMI or Bluetooth audio devices temporarily and test again to remove ambiguity about the active endpoint.
The Creative control application is missing
That usually means only a driver was installed, or the application component was deselected. Run the Creative software pack again and keep the application components selected. The Microsoft catalog package is a driver-focused alternative, not a replacement for Creative’s application bundle.
Problems began after a Windows 11 update
Creative marks SB1570 as Supported for Windows 11, but its compatibility guidance warns that newer Windows 11 builds can reveal issues that were not found during initial testing. Record the Windows build in Settings > System > About, check Creative’s current SB1570 support notes, and reinstall the correct package only after confirming that the card model and Windows selection match. If the issue started immediately after an update, Windows’ Settings > System > Recovery options may provide a rollback path; use them only when you understand which update or driver will be removed.

Verify the installation before using audio software
- Device Manager lists the card as Sound Blaster Audigy Fx or SB1570 with no warning icon.
- The driver provider and version appear on the device’s Driver tab.
- Windows Sound settings show Audigy Fx playback and recording endpoints.
- A system test tone plays through the intended speakers or headphones.
- A microphone test records through the intended input.
- The Creative control application opens when you installed the full software pack.
Keep the downloaded installer and the recorded package details until the card works through a restart. If you later need to reinstall, those details help distinguish the full Creative pack from the smaller Microsoft catalog driver.
