The Internet Games are optional. Microsoft has turned off the game servers, so Internet Spades, Checkers, and Backgammon should not be treated as dependable online-multiplayer games.

A match means the file you downloaded matches the publisher’s displayed reference hash. It does not independently prove that the program is safe or malware-free.
- Leave Windows protections on. SmartScreen checks the reputation of downloaded files before they run; some Windows 11 PCs use Smart App Control instead. If Windows shows a warning, stop and recheck the download source, file name, and checksum. Do not disable SmartScreen, Smart App Control, antivirus, or other protections simply to force an installation.
- Read every installer screen. Select only the games you want. Do not assume a particular administrator prompt, install location, or final behavior: these can vary with Windows build, account policy, PC architecture, and future revisions of the package.
- Record what you installed. Keep the installer only if you may need repair or reinstallation, and note the package version and SHA-256 you verified. Old screenshots and older articles often refer to a different release.
Using Microsoft Store instead
For a supported Windows 11 route, open Start > Microsoft Store. Browse Apps or Gaming, or open My Library and select Download for an item you already own or previously acquired. Store apps normally update automatically.

If the Store itself is malfunctioning, Windows documents wsreset.exe as a way to reset the Microsoft Store app. Run it only for a Store problem; it does not restore the old Windows 7 game binaries.

How to remove it
To uninstall the third-party package, open Windows’ installed-apps or Programs and Features interface and look for the package entry actually shown on that PC; its exact name can change between releases. Select the entry and choose Uninstall. If you no longer need the downloaded installer afterward, remove it through your normal file-management process.
Do not install Windows 7 for this
Windows 7 reached end of support on 2020-01-14. Reinstalling it, dual-booting it, or using it merely to obtain its games creates a much larger security and maintenance problem than it solves.
