Dragon Age: The Veilguard supports keyboard and mouse and Xbox controllers on PC, as well as native PS5 DualSense support with haptics. Its controls settings cover remapping, sensitivity, deadzones, vibration, and some tap alternatives—but movement remapping is limited, and blocking and aiming still require sustained holds. Exact default key and button assignments vary by platform and are not established here, so check the in-game Controls settings for your setup.
Supported input devices
BioWare’s August 21, 2024 PC feature announcement lists keyboard and mouse, Xbox controllers, and native PS5 DualSense controller support with haptics. It also says players can switch between controller and keyboard and mouse while playing or in menus. These are PC feature-announcement claims, not a platform-by-platform default layout: BioWare’s PC features announcement.
The announcement also describes class-specific keybind customization that can be switched between Rook classes. For current labels and options, use the settings shown in your installed version.

#1 Best Overall
- Dragon age the veilguard action rpg: Immersive action role-playing game where you become the leader others believe in as Rook
- Save a battered world: Explore Thedas, a vibrant realm of rugged wilderness, treacherous labyrinths and glittering cities teetering on the edge as corrupt gods unleash havoc
- Unite the veilguard: Recruit a team of seven companions with rich backstories, including an assassin, a necromancer and a detective, each bringing unique abilities to the fight
- Customize your hero: Select from different races and combat classes, customize your appearance and choose your character's backstory as Dragon Age's newest hero
- International region free version: Region free PS5 disc plays on all systems, imported international packaging may differ in age rating and labeling, DLC may require correct region
- Remapping: Basic gameplay inputs can be remapped. Movement actions have a specific limit: they can only be reassigned between analog sticks. EA’s broader summary describes gameplay input remapping on controller and keyboard, but this movement constraint means it should not be read as unrestricted reassignment of every action.
- Camera and aiming: Adjust vertical and horizontal sensitivity, and invert the X or Y axis for controller and mouse.
- Stick layout and deadzones: Swap the left and right sticks for movement and looking; adjust look and movement stick deadzones separately, as well as the controller trigger deadzone.
- Vibration: Adjust intensity for global, gameplay, environment, and cinematic feedback.
- Class keybinds on PC: BioWare’s PC announcement says keybinds can be customized by class and switched between Rook classes.
Hold and tap controls
Some interface interactions that normally use a hold can be changed to Tap, allowing activation with one tap. This setting applies to UI interactions, not gameplay actions.
The controller ability wheel has its own Hold or Tap option. In Tap mode, the wheel remains visible without requiring a sustained button press. However, blocking and aiming still require holds. EA notes that enabling the persistent dot provides an alternative to the aim-down-sights reticle when aiming without a hold.

Combat inputs and quick-time events
EA says quick-time events are absent by design. Certain melee attack combos can still use rapid input sequences, but quick, precise timing is not required for progression; optional finishers may call for faster reactions. Combat presets include Aim Assist, Aim Snap, and Combat Timing, which can simplify combat inputs. See EA’s accessibility resource for the documented combat options.
