Yes. Corinne Busche confirmed she was leaving BioWare in a statement reported by PC Gamer on January 17, 2025. She described the departure as voluntary and said she had accepted an opportunity in the CRPG space. The report does not name her next employer or project.
Did Corinne Busche leave BioWare?
Yes. PC Gamer reported on January 17, 2025, that Eurogamer had received a statement from Busche confirming her departure. Although the initial framing was that she had reportedly left, the story was updated with her own confirmation. PC Gamer’s report reproduces her statement.
Busche said: “The departure was voluntary, as I have been presented with an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.” The report does not describe her as having been fired.
Why did the director leave?
Busche framed the move as a matter of personal fulfillment and a new professional opportunity. In her statement, she said, “At the heart of it, this was about my own fulfillment,” and, “I did what I set out to do at BioWare.” She also described working on Dragon Age: The Veilguard as “the privilege of a lifetime,” saying she loved Dragon Age and BioWare and wanted to return the series to a quality single-player RPG.

Was The Veilguard’s performance the reason?
PC Gamer relayed Eurogamer’s understanding that the game’s commercial performance was not a direct factor in Busche’s departure. That is attributed reporting, not a full account of her motives. The available report does not establish that sales prompted her decision, and it provides no basis for claims about sales figures or studio consequences.

What was Busche’s BioWare career?
According to PC Gamer, Busche joined EA in 2006, moved to BioWare in 2019, and became a game director at the studio in 2022. The 18-year EA tenure cited in the report should not be mistaken for 18 years at BioWare: the two employment timelines are different.

BioWare’s official news index lists a “BioWare Studio Update” dated January 29, 2025, but the index entry alone does not establish that the update addressed Busche’s departure. The confirmation cited here came from Busche’s statement to Eurogamer, as reported by PC Gamer—not a confirmed BioWare announcement about her exit. BioWare’s index also describes a timed trial of The Veilguard for EA Play subscribers; that listing is separate from the personnel report.
