Dragon Age: The Veilguard Patch 1 went live on November 7, 2024. It added a cosmetic N7 Day armor appearance for Rook and included PC-specific graphics and stability changes alongside a broad set of quest, combat, companion, presentation, interface, and achievement fixes. It was the game’s first patch, not its latest: EA’s update listing later included Patches 2 through 5, with Patch 5 dated January 23, 2025.
What Patch 1 changed
EA’s Patch 1 release notes, published November 7, 2024, cover a small N7 Day addition and fixes across several parts of the game. The platform qualification matters: the DLSS, crash-cause, and XeSS changes are specifically marked PC-only; the notes do not describe them as console fixes.
N7 Day appearance
Rook can find a new N7 Day appearance in the Lighthouse. EA describes it as “a cosmetic only armor,” so it changes appearance rather than providing gameplay stats. The notes do not say it must be purchased separately.
PC graphics and stability
- Fixed an issue that could leave DLSS options grayed out on Nvidia 40-series GPUs.
- Eliminated the cause of “a small number of crashes.” EA gives no count or percentage, and this wording does not mean every crash was fixed.
- Updated XeSS to version 1.3.1.
Quest, companion, and gameplay fixes
Quests, travel, and objectives
- Addressed potential issues caused by fast-traveling during a quest.
- Prevented party changes made while traveling to some quests from breaking the in-world mission camera.
- Corrected several objective markers and fixed rare blocking issues in Sea of Blood and Pinnacle of Its Kind.
- Fixed the floating Halla in In Entropy’s Grasp; the Dalish elf in Unwanted Guests is now an actual elf.
Companions and character systems
- Corrected Inquisitor customizations in an ending scene and fixed Companion Skill Points resetting.
- Approval notifications remain on-screen longer.
- Harding now has arrows in her quiver. Harding and Taash banter no longer repeats indefinitely, and global banter no longer starts too early.
Skills, combat, and balance
- Cleaned up certain skill interactions, fixed Iron Veil apparitions so they attack Razikale, and made Entropic Spheres work on vertical surfaces.
- Fixed Taunt clearing early in a way that could cause enemies to ignore it, and addressed a rare Rogue bow-aiming issue.
- Improved the detailed-stats screen, adjusted some fights and player skills, and fixed major-encounter leashing exploits.
- Adjusted the Rage Demon’s Ring of Fire so it should be dodgeable in all situations.
World, presentation, interface, and achievements
World and presentation
- Improved distant visual performance and fixed several art pop-ins; added collision to assets that were missing it and corrected a codex-art texture issue.
- Added haptics to interactions and events, fixed lip sync in some ambient scenes, and adjusted audio balance. Equipment changes no longer disable helmet voice processing.
- Adjusted epilogue-card timing and corrected NPC gaze, unexpected neck growth, and long-hair clipping with certain armor.
- Fixed several character-creation makeup issues and Venatori crystal effects that did not disappear properly. The update also adjusted creepy corpse movement and slowed the speedy raven in Hossberg.
Interface and achievements
- Added mouse-wheel support to the sell screen.
- Fixed continued scrolling after opening the journal while on the map.
- Faction Achievements now trigger when Faction Strength reaches its maximum, rather than at the Faction Cap.
Is Patch 1 still the latest update?
No. It is the first patch, released November 7, 2024. EA’s updates listing records later numbered patches through Patch 5, dated January 23, 2025. That listing establishes that later patches followed, but does not establish which update is latest today.
