In Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s “Sea of Blood,” travel from the Crossroads to Treviso, follow the Antivan Crows to the Ossuary, destroy the container holding Lucanis’s blood, and defeat Calivan to recruit Lucanis Dellamorte. The Ossuary cannot be revisited after you leave, so collect its mementos and explore side rooms as you go.
How to start Sea of Blood and find Lucanis
- After exploring the Crossroads, take the easternmost eluvian to Treviso to begin the quest.
- Meet Teia and the Antivan Crow leadership, including Viago, Illario, and Caterina.
- Follow Illario to the Ossuary. Work through its crystal barriers and rooms to reach Lucanis.
Explore the Ossuary before moving on
The Ossuary is a one-time area: once you leave at the end of the quest, you cannot return. Some sections also contain points of no return. Pick up finite mementos and check side rooms as you progress rather than waiting until after a boss fight.
Collect the Dragon’s Decoy Memento
Look for the Dragon’s Decoy Memento on a laboratory table. It is worth +50 Caretaker Power.
Use crystals to open routes and reach side rooms
When a barrier is powered by a crystal, destroy the three shielding crystals protecting it, then destroy the barrier crystal itself. In other puzzle rooms, move the power crystal between receptacles to form bridges and reach chests or side areas.

Cross the Fade distortions promptly
Use Lucanis’s Veil Instability ability on purple Fade distortions to create temporary platforms. Cross them without delay; they do not remain indefinitely.
Defeat the Fabricator and reach the Blood Vault
Continue through the Ossuary’s barrier and receptacle puzzles until you encounter the Fabricator. It is reported to be weak to necrotic damage and resistant to electric damage, making Lucanis a useful source of damage.

Watch for lightning bolts, marked area attacks, and magical bolts released from stored energy. After the fight, open the chest for the Glaciate Rune. The guide reports that it passively adds 10% cold damage and, when activated, changes weapon attacks to cold damage for 20 seconds.
Proceed through the remaining Ossuary route to the Blood Vault. Destroy the container holding Lucanis’s blood, then take the northern elevator toward Calivan.

How to beat Calivan
Calivan’s encounter has multiple phases. He starts with clones and projectile attacks, and also uses marked blight spikes. Quick area damage can clear the clones. At about half health, he summons Calivan’s Pride; defeat the demon and mage, then face Calivan again for the final phase.
Calivan is weak to cold damage, so the Glaciate Rune can be useful if you equip it. Calivan’s Pride attacks with sword strikes, claw swipes, shockwaves, and marked lightning attacks. Its sword strikes can be blocked, and Lucanis’s necrotic damage is another option against the demon.

After the fight, search the room for loot, then speak to Lucanis to leave the Ossuary.

- “There’s got to be another way” earns Bellara approval.
- At the final conversation, “Should you be alone now?” progresses Lucanis romance; “Welcome to the team” earns Lucanis approval; “I’ll keep an eye on you” causes Lucanis disapproval.
These choices do not override the earlier city decision. EA’s official romance guide says choosing Minrathous over saving Treviso earlier in the game immediately locks out Lucanis’s romance. EA also describes Lucanis as favoring an active, decisive Rook and identifies the Antivan Tea Seat, sold by the Antivan Crows merchant in Treviso, as his gift.
