Those specifications explain what the game is designed to offer—not which platform delivers the sharpest image or steadiest performance in practice. EA’s published information does not establish a measured platform winner.
Does Dragon Age: The Veilguard run at 60 FPS?
EA says the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions have two graphics modes: Fidelity, which targets 30 FPS, and Performance, which targets 60 FPS. A target is not a guarantee that the game will hold that frame rate in every scene. EA’s mode description does not provide measured frame-rate results or frame-pacing data for individual consoles.
The modes make a straightforward trade-off: Fidelity aims for higher visual quality at a lower target frame rate, while Performance aims for a higher target frame rate. The available information does not quantify the resolution or image-quality differences between the two on each console.
What does PS5 Pro improve?
BioWare Technical Director Maciej Kurowski says PS5 Pro improves resolution and visual settings in both Fidelity and Performance modes. The notable addition is ray-traced ambient occlusion in Performance mode. Kurowski said: “We’ve enabled Raytraced Ambient Occlusion (RTAO) in the 60FPS Performance mode, which previously was only available on the base PlayStation 5 with 30FPS Fidelity mode.” This describes the features BioWare enabled, not a measured comparison of image quality or frame-rate stability.

Does The Veilguard support ultrawide on PC?
Yes. EA lists 21:9 ultrawide resolutions and an FOV slider among the PC features. Players can also remove cinematic black bars by turning off the “Cinematic Aspect Ratio” setting. HDR is supported, and frame rate is uncapped, so performance will depend on the PC’s hardware, selected settings and any frame-rate limit the player chooses.
PC graphics and upscaling options
The PC version offers Low, Medium, High and Ultra presets, alongside selectable controls for terrain, effects, strand hair and camera behavior. Upscaling options are DLSS 3, FSR 2.2 and XeSS; EA also lists DLSS frame generation, NVIDIA Reflex and dynamic resolution scaling.

Ray-tracing options include ray-traced reflections, ray-traced ambient occlusion and Ultra Ray Tracing. A Selective ray-tracing setting enables the features in specific areas BioWare considers best suited to them. The feature list does not say what frame rate a particular PC will achieve with any combination of settings, so players should expect to adjust quality and upscaling to suit their hardware.
Which platform looks best?
There is no universal answer in the official specifications. Console modes specify frame-rate targets, and PS5 Pro has additional resolution, visual-setting and ray-tracing features; PC offers more graphics controls and supports ultrawide displays. None of those facts alone establishes which platform has the best image or most consistent performance.

| Platform | What EA or BioWare specifies | What the specifications do not establish |
|---|---|---|
| PlayStation 5 | Fidelity mode targets 30 FPS; Performance mode targets 60 FPS. BioWare says ray-traced ambient occlusion is available in Fidelity mode. | Measured frame-rate stability, exact image-quality differences between modes, or a platform-wide image-quality ranking. |
| PlayStation 5 Pro | BioWare says resolution and visual settings improve in both modes; Performance mode adds ray-traced ambient occlusion. | Measured resolution, frame-rate stability or the size of the visual improvement in specific scenes. |
| Xbox Series X|S | EA lists Fidelity mode targeting 30 FPS and Performance mode targeting 60 FPS. | Model-specific resolution and image-quality details or measured performance in play. |
| PC | Uncapped frame rate, 21:9 ultrawide, HDR, multiple graphics presets, upscaling choices and optional ray tracing. | A guaranteed frame rate or image quality; both depend on the PC hardware and chosen settings. |
The practical choice depends on the hardware you already own and what matters most to you: a higher console frame-rate target, PS5 Pro’s listed enhancements, or PC’s flexibility and ultrawide support. Independent, current testing would be needed to rank platforms by actual frame-rate consistency or image quality.
What is The Veilguard, beyond its graphics options?
EA describes Dragon Age: The Veilguard as a single-player RPG set in Thedas. You play as Rook, a customizable protagonist who brings together seven companions. The game offers Warrior, Mage and Rogue classes, with companion abilities and tactical choices as part of combat. Its presentation options sit alongside that role-playing structure rather than changing the game into a multiplayer experience.

What BioWare says about PC testing
In its PC features article, published August 21, 2024, BioWare said PC accounted for 40% of its platform testing effort. The studio also reported more than 200,000 hours of performance and compatibility testing, and close to 10,000 hours of user research focused on controls and UI. These are BioWare’s reported internal testing figures, not independent certification or third-party benchmark results.
