The original release schedule is now in the past: DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake launched on 14 November 2024, and DRAGON QUEST I & II HD-2D Remake followed on 30 October 2025. Square Enix’s official game pages list both as available now, though availability can vary by platform, storefront and region.

Square Enix’s June 2024 announcement set III’s date and platforms. The publisher’s official game page now labels it available. For I & II, the North American store listing gives the release date, while the update notice names platforms supported by its launch update. Storefront availability and compatibility can differ by region and edition.

Why did Dragon Quest III release before I & II?
The release order follows the story’s chronology rather than the games’ original numbering. Square Enix presents III as the narrative beginning of the Erdrick Trilogy; the combined I & II remake continues that story. Releasing III first therefore lets players begin with the trilogy’s narrative starting point, even though it is the third numbered game.
The I & II remake packages the first two adventures together. Square Enix describes III as a reimagining with HD-2D visuals that combine pixel art and 3D graphics, alongside a modernized interface, quality-of-life changes and enhanced turn-based battles.

Square Enix’s North American store pages establish physical Standard Edition options for III on Nintendo Switch, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, as well as a Collector’s Edition set. Its I & II listing describes a physical standard game and collector’s-edition contents. These listings establish the formats and packages, not current price, stock or delivery timing; check the relevant regional storefront or retailer for those details.

Square Enix published a version 1.0.2.0 update notice dated 9 March 2026. It describes gameplay adjustments and fixes. The notice is a software update record, not a statement about sales or player numbers.
