Unlock characters in Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO by buying them with Zeni in the in-game Shop or by completing specific Episode Battle stages, Bonus Battles, offline tournaments, and Super Shenron wishes. Costumes have separate routes: some are available through in-game menus or rewards, while others are tied to editions or paid DLC. Check the specific character or outfit’s listing and requirements—there is no single unlock method for the entire roster.
How to unlock characters
Start with the in-game Shop: find the character you want and check the displayed Player Level requirement and Zeni price. PowerPyx’s character-unlock guide reports that all shop characters are available by Player Level 20, but individual listings can have different requirements and prices. If you would rather earn a fighter through play, check whether that character is a reward for a particular Episode Battle stage, Bonus Battle, offline tournament, or Super Shenron wish. These are character-specific routes, not alternatives that work for every fighter. Unlocking a fighter may also unlock that character’s variants, according to PowerPyx. Check the character’s entry after unlocking it to see which versions are available; do not assume every form is a separate purchase.

Use Episode Battle and Bonus Battles to find story rewards
Episode Battle follows eight perspectives: Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo, Future Trunks, Goku Black, Frieza, and Jiren. Bandai Namco says player choices and secondary objectives can lead to alternate scenarios, so a stage may not have only one outcome. If you are chasing a particular reward or branch, inspect the story map and the stage’s conditions instead of simply replaying the main path. Bonus Battles can also have prerequisites: some are locked until you complete other Bonus Battles. Bandai Namco says first-time completion of a new Bonus Battle gives rewards. Check the available battle list and clear its prerequisites if the stage you need is missing. The game also supports offline and online tournaments, but character guides identify particular offline tournament wins—not tournament play in general—as unlock conditions.

How to unlock or get costumes
Costumes are not all obtained the same way as characters. Check the character’s options in Customize and the Shop, then verify whether the outfit is an in-game item, a reward, or content tied to a specific edition or DLC pack. The available information does not establish an exhaustive, current costume-by-costume unlock list, so use the in-game listing or the relevant pack description for the exact outfit you want.
Edition bonuses and DLC add outfits, but they are not required to unlock the base game’s characters. Bandai Namco lists a Goku (Super) costume with Power Pole in the Ultimate Upgrade Pack. Paid character packs can bundle outfits with playable characters. For example, Steam’s HERO OF JUSTICE Pack listing includes 11 playable characters and a new costume, while DAIMA Character Pack 1 lists eight playable characters and a Goku (Mini) outfit that changes techniques. Super Limit-Breaking NEO
The Dragon Ball Official Site announced that Super Limit-Breaking NEO became available on July 30, 2026, adding characters, outfits, techniques, stages, and the single-player Limit Breaker Journey mode. The announcement said Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 versions were scheduled for a later date.
