If Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 crashes or will not start on your PS5, try PlayStation’s general game-start troubleshooting steps: move the game to internal storage if it is on USB extended storage, restart the console, restore licenses, then reinstall the game if necessary. These are console-level checks, not a confirmed Xenoverse 2-specific fix; PlayStation has not identified a particular game bug or cause for this symptom.
Try the low-impact checks first
- Move the game to internal storage if needed. If Xenoverse 2 is installed on USB extended storage, move it to the PS5’s internal storage. PlayStation includes this step in its game-start troubleshooting guidance.
- Restart the PS5. Open the console’s Power menu and choose Restart. This is a simple first check before changing the game installation.
- Restore licenses. Go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Restore Licenses. PlayStation says restoring licenses can help with game crashes and does not affect data. See its license restoration instructions.
Reinstall the game and check for updates
If those checks do not help, delete Xenoverse 2 and download it again, or reinstall it from its disc. PlayStation suggests using a wired internet connection for the download if possible. Also check the PS5 for the latest system software available to that console. Its system software and application troubleshooting includes checking the internet connection, restarting, reinstalling the game, and trying Safe Mode cache or database options when needed.

Use Safe Mode carefully
Safe Mode provides targeted system options, but they do not all do the same thing. To enter it, turn off the PS5 by holding its power button for three seconds. After the console shuts down, hold the power button again and release it after the second beep. Connect the controller to the console with a USB cable, then press the PS button. Follow PlayStation’s Safe Mode guide for the current menu details.
- Repair Console Storage: PlayStation describes this as a non-erasing option for startup or storage problems.
- Clear System Software Cache: PlayStation lists this for issues with system features or performance drops.
- Rebuild Database: This scans the drive and creates a new database of the system’s content.
- Reset PS5 or Reset PS5 (Reinstall System Software): These options delete user data. Do not use them as routine early troubleshooting; back up data before choosing an option that erases it. PlayStation specifically advises backing up before reinstalling system software.
Only use the CE-109573-5 steps if that is your error
If the console displays error code CE-109573-5 when Xenoverse 2 starts, follow the sequence on PlayStation’s CE-109573-5 support page: restart, delete and reinstall the game, then try rebuilding the database and updating system software if the problem continues. That guidance is for this specific code; it does not establish that other Xenoverse 2 crashes have the same cause.

If the game still will not load
When contacting PlayStation Support, include the exact error code or message, what happens when you launch the game, and the steps that reproduce the issue. Add a screenshot or video if you can. This gives support a concrete symptom to investigate rather than assuming the game, save data, update, or hardware is at fault.
