To finish the Faerie Village quest in Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, speak with the Faerie Queen, find the Dreamstone in the Underground Lake, return to the Queen for Wakey Dust, then use it in Norvik to wake the town. This is optional side content, not a requirement for completing the main game.
How to complete the Faerie Village quest
- Start in Norvik. The townspeople are asleep. Talk to the residents to learn about the faeries and the Dreamstone; this points you toward the quest.
- Find the Faerie Village west of Norvik. Leave town and travel west across the fields and through the forest. In the village, enter the large building in the northeast and speak with the Faerie Queen. She explains the dispute involving her daughter and a human. Game8’s walkthrough and the GameFAQs walkthrough describe this route.
- Collect anything you want in the village. The first visit offers optional items and a reported nighttime monster encounter; details are below.
- Go to the Underground Lake and obtain the Dreamstone. Explore the cave and secure the Dreamstone before returning to the Queen. The quest walkthrough identifies it as the progression item needed for the next conversation.
- Return to the Faerie Queen. Speak with her again after resolving the Dreamstone episode to receive Wakey Dust.
- Use Wakey Dust in Norvik. Return to town and use the item to wake its residents and resolve the curse. Game8’s Norvik-to-Underground-Lake walkthrough also covers the return to the Queen.
Optional items and encounter in the village
Walkthroughs report coins, an Antidotal Herb, a Dazzle-me-not, a Seed of Magic, and Mini Medals among the village discoveries. The guides do not describe the medal locations consistently: descriptions of the medal near the pond and the one behind the rock differ. If you are following a precise collectible route, check the current in-game localization and inspect those areas rather than relying on a single wording of the location. Neoseeker’s Faerie Village guide lists the finds.
Edgar at night
Neoseeker reports that the friendly monster Edgar appears in the southwest of the village at night. He may run away unless your party includes a Monster Wrangler. This is an optional encounter, separate from the Dreamstone and Wakey Dust quest progression.
When the village shop opens
The shop is not available on the first visit. Game8 says it opens later, after you obtain the Mod Rod.

Should you do the quest now?
The Norvik storyline is optional, according to the cited GameFAQs walkthrough, so you can defer it if you would rather continue the main adventure. If you want to wake Norvik’s residents, however, the required sequence is Dreamstone first, then Wakey Dust from the Queen, then use the dust in town. The walkthrough sources are practical guides rather than official publisher documentation; the GameFAQs page is labeled for PC, so it corroborates the route but does not establish that every version behaves identically.
