Bandai Namco revealed the sequel at Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026 and is targeting a 2027 release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. That makes the old claim that the game would not be announced soon out of date.
What happened to the “not announced soon” claim?
The headline’s prediction has been overtaken by events: Bandai Namco officially announced Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 in April 2026. The specific leaker and original report behind the development and timing claim have not been verified, so it should not be attributed to a named insider or treated as a confirmed account of the game’s development.

That claim is also distinct from a separate, earlier leak report. In February 2026, GamesRadar reported that a Bandai Namco Southeast Asia YouTube playlist titled “Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3” briefly included an Age 1000 teaser. That was secondary reporting of a playlist leak, not official confirmation at the time.
What is officially confirmed about Xenoverse 3?

Setting and character creation
The initial official description presents a new Dragon Ball world brought to life by Akira Toriyama, according to Toei Animation’s announcement. Bandai Namco’s news listing later highlighted a trailer posted September 11, 2026, focused on character creation and a new Android race. Those details establish what the trailer covers; they do not, by themselves, confirm a full list of playable races, gameplay systems, or story specifics. Bandai Namco’s news page lists the trailer.

What remains unknown?
The official information cited here does not establish an exact release date, price, preorder schedule, physical retail edition, Nintendo Switch version, or detailed gameplay systems. Where Xenoverse 2 fits in
Bandai Namco positioned the sequel announcement alongside Xenoverse 2’s Future Saga Chapter 4, which it identified as that game’s final DLC chapter. The company says Xenoverse 2 launched in November 2016. In 2023, Bandai Namco Holdings reported that Xenoverse 2 had passed 10 million cumulative shipments worldwide; that is the company’s shipment figure, not an independent audit of consumer sales. Bandai Namco Holdings’ 2023 presentation gives the figure.
