The Elite Camping Kit is the best all-round choice in Dragon’s Dogma 2: it weighs 4 kg, costs 3,000 G, and the Gamer Guides item comparison describes it as lightweight and able to stand up well to monster attacks. For regional durability, choose the Grass-Patterned kit in Vermund or the Sand-Patterned kit in Battahl. The available shop listings do not confirm where to buy the Elite kit, so check merchants in-game rather than relying on an unverified seller.
Which camping kit is best?
For one kit to carry across the map, the Elite Camping Kit is the strongest general recommendation in Gamer Guides’ comparison: it combines the lowest listed weight with a description of good resistance to monster attacks. The guide was first published on February 27, 2024, and updated May 22, 2024; its figures are game-item values, not a current live inventory check. See the camping-kit comparison.
| Kit | Listed weight | Listed price | Guide description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Modest Camping Kit | 7.00 kg | 500 G | Inexpensive, but liable to collapse if monsters attack. |
| Mundane Camping Kit | 7.00 kg | 1,000 G | Basic-purpose kit. |
| Grass-Patterned Camping Kit | 6.00 kg | 3,000 G | Particularly sturdy against monsters in Vermund. |
| Sand-Patterned Camping Kit | 6.00 kg | 3,000 G | Particularly sturdy against monsters in Battahl. |
| Elite Camping Kit | 4.00 kg | 3,000 G | High quality, lightweight, and described as standing up well against monster attacks. |
| Explorer’s Camping Kit | 5.50 kg | 2,000 G | The guide lists this price; Steam describes it as efficient without being unduly weighty. Verify current in-game price. |
These are guide-listed values and descriptions, not a claim that every shop currently has each kit in stock. If your priority is matching local threats rather than minimizing carried weight, the Grass-Patterned and Sand-Patterned kits are sensible regional alternatives.

Do you need the Explorer’s Camping Kit DLC?
No. Ordinary camping kits are available from in-game merchants, so the DLC is not necessary to camp. Steam’s listing says the Explorer’s Camping Kit add-on grants one special kit and makes it available for purchase at in-game shops; the base game is required, and the item is delivered to in-game storage after an inn stay. Steam describes it as “Efficient without being unduly weighty.” Check the Steam listing.
Availability can vary by platform and region. PC Gamer reported on June 15, 2026, that most paid item add-ons were due to leave sale on June 25, while the Explorer’s Camping Kit was an exception; check your platform’s storefront for current availability. Read PC Gamer’s report.

How camping works—and what can go wrong
- Campsites are fixed locations in the world; you cannot place a campsite wherever you like.
- You need a Camping Kit to rest at a campsite, but using it does not itself consume the kit.
- Resting at camp restores lost maximum health and lets you cook meat for buffs.
- A campsite rest does not create the checkpoint save associated with an inn or an owned house.
- There is a risk of an ambush. An attack can prevent health recovery and may destroy the kit. Clearing nearby enemies seems to reduce the risk, but it is not a guarantee.
