The best Dragon’s Dogma 2 inventory setup is a routine, not a hidden toggle: carry only the supplies you expect to use before your next storage stop, leave crafting stock and spare gear with the innkeeper, and inspect both your Arisen’s and pawns’ inventories after every transfer or pawn change. Capcom confirms that storage is accessed through the menu opened by speaking with an innkeeper. Since the June 26, 2024 update, you can also sell items from storage, equip armor from storage, and keep up to 999 of one item type there instead of 99.
This guide separates confirmed game behavior from practical recommendations. The available official documentation does not verify a universal “inventory settings” panel, a sorting rule, or a particular item-combining destination, so do not rely on a setting name unless it appears in your current game manual or interface.

The inventory loop that works best
Use settlements as stockroom visits rather than trying to carry your entire collection through every expedition. A reliable cycle has three stages:
- Before departure: keep a compact field kit on the character or pawn who will use it, and remove obvious surplus.
- During travel: spend, hand over, or discard only what you understand; avoid giving valuable materials to an unfamiliar pawn without checking where they went.
- At the next inn: inspect the party, deposit long-term materials and spare equipment, then sell or equip directly from storage where appropriate.
This approach reduces encumbrance without treating every item as disposable. It also gives you a repeatable recovery point when a pawn’s specialization has moved goods automatically or when your party composition changes.

What Capcom officially confirms about storage
How to reach storage
Capcom’s PlayStation 5 FAQ says in-game storage can be viewed through the menu opened by speaking to an innkeeper. In practice, make the innkeeper your deliberate inventory checkpoint: talk to the innkeeper, select the storage function presented by your current interface, and review both sides of the transfer before confirming. The same FAQ notes that bonus items appear in in-game storage, so check there if an entitlement or reward is not on the Arisen or a pawn.
See the Capcom Dragon’s Dogma 2 FAQ for the documented access path and bonus-item note.
Storage can sell and equip after the June 2024 update
Capcom’s June 26, 2024 title-update announcement added two important conveniences: storage can sell items, and armor can be equipped from storage. The armor convenience also applies while changing vocation at a vocation guild. You therefore do not need to withdraw every stored item before selling it or before equipping armor; select the storage-side action available in your current version.

Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Capcom described the change as: “Increasing the maximum number of items of one kind that can be put in storage from 99 to 999.” That is a maximum per item type, not a promise that every category or your overall storage has unlimited room. Deposits above 999 of one type are automatically limited to the maximum.
The dated announcement is available on Capcom’s Dragon’s Dogma 2 title-update page.
Build a field kit before you leave
Choose supplies by the next safe stop
Do not ask “Can I carry this?” for every item in isolation. Ask “Will I use this before I can speak to an innkeeper again?” Keep a small reserve of healing and other consumables that match the route you are about to take, then leave the rest in storage. The exact quantity depends on your difficulty, vocation, companions, and destination; the useful rule is to set a personal stopping point and restock only when you reach it.
Place important consumables on the character expected to use them, rather than assuming a pawn will always retain or return them. This is a conservative habit, not a documented restriction: it makes the item’s location obvious when the party changes.

Separate “next trip” equipment from “later” equipment
Keep the weapon and armor you intend to use immediately. Store alternate sets, low-level replacements, and equipment reserved for a future vocation unless the current trip genuinely needs them. Because armor can now be equipped from storage, you can leave more situational armor behind and change at a vocation guild without first performing a withdrawal.
Mark quest-sensitive items mentally
When an item is tied to an active objective or a person you have not yet returned to, avoid selling or handing it to a pawn merely to reduce weight. If you cannot identify its purpose, store it rather than disposing of it. Storage is a reversible choice; a sale or transfer may not be.
Run a complete inn visit
1. Inspect every party inventory first
Before depositing anything, look at the Arisen and each current pawn. This catches items that were moved while you were traveling and shows which character is carrying the weight. A transfer is easier to diagnose when you know the starting location.
2. Deposit long-term stock
Move surplus crafting materials, duplicate valuables, spare equipment, and supplies for a later expedition into storage. Keep the field kit you selected for the next route. If a stack is already near the per-type limit, decide whether to sell part of it rather than repeatedly attempting deposits that cannot increase the stored quantity beyond 999.

The 2024 update lets storage sell items directly. Use that option for materials and equipment you have consciously classified as surplus. Do not turn the convenience into an automatic “sell everything” pass: an item that looks common may still be needed for an objective, an upgrade, or a future vocation.
4. Equip from storage when changing vocation
At a vocation guild, use the storage-side armor-equip capability added in the same update. Keep the equipment in storage until you know the new vocation is the one you want; this avoids filling party inventories with every possible set. Verify the result on the intended character before leaving the guild.
5. Recheck after the transfer
Review the Arisen and pawns again after deposits, sales, and equipment changes. This second look confirms that essential consumables remain accessible and that your next trip will not begin with an accidental duplicate load.

Manage pawns as independent carriers
Hawker and Logistician behavior
Capcom specifically warns that pawns with the Hawker and Logistician specializations can adjust the party’s carried weight. The documented examples include automatically receiving items and equipment from the Arisen, and selling low-rarity items. The FAQ does not provide a complete item-by-item policy for either specialization.

If an item appears to have moved or disappeared, inspect the relevant pawn’s inventory and specialization before assuming a bug or a lost item. Treat these specializations as active management behavior, not as passive weight bonuses. Keep irreplaceable or urgently needed supplies on the intended user and verify the pawn’s contents after any automatic action.
Give a pawn only what that pawn should carry
Use a deliberate handoff: open the party inventory, identify the receiving pawn, transfer the item, and immediately confirm the pawn’s resulting load. Avoid bulk transfers when you have not first separated quest items, valuables, and consumables. A short, intentional handoff is easier to undo than a full redistribution.
Understand the documented forfeit case
Capcom says that items held by a pawn who becomes forfeit are automatically sent to item storage. That is a specific documented recovery behavior. It should not be generalized to every pawn dismissal, replacement, or inventory problem. After a forfeit, check storage before trying to recreate the missing load; after an ordinary pawn change, inspect both the departing and current party inventories instead.
Use practical item categories
Consumables
Keep a route-sized amount accessible and store the reserve. Put high-priority consumables on the character who will use them, then check that location after pawn changes. This prevents a heavy reserve from occupying every carrier while still leaving you prepared for the next segment.
Crafting materials
Crafting stock is the easiest category to over-carry because each individual material may appear light or useful. Deposit it at the inn unless you have a specific near-term reason to carry it. The 999-per-type storage ceiling makes long-term stockpiling more practical than it was under the former 99 limit, but the ceiling still requires occasional selling or spending when a single type approaches it.
Valuables and sale goods
Separate items you are deliberately keeping from items you intend to sell. Store sale goods until an inn visit rather than letting them consume party capacity. Since storage itself can sell, there is no weight advantage to withdrawing them merely to reach a vendor function supported by the update.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
Weapons and armor
Keep current gear available; store alternatives that are not part of the next plan. Armor can be equipped from storage, including during vocation changes at a vocation guild, so a large wardrobe does not need to travel with the party. After equipping, confirm the character and piece before leaving the interface.
Unidentified or uncertain items
If you do not know whether an item is a quest object, upgrade component, or ordinary sale good, store it and note why you kept it. This preserves the option to investigate later without forcing you to carry it through every encounter.

About equip load and “inventory settings”
There is no verified universal setting in the available documentation
Players often ask how to increase equip load or which inventory setting controls automatic handling. The official material cited here confirms storage access, pawn specialization behavior, the forfeit recovery rule, and the 2024 storage improvements; it does not verify a named setting that raises the Arisen’s carrying capacity, changes item-combining destinations, or defines a universal sorting policy. Do not rely on an online label for one of those options unless it appears in your current game interface or manual.
Capcom’s online manual landing page links to platform manuals, but the exact platform manual text and availability of any such settings should be checked in the current game. The practical answer to a heavy load is therefore behavioral: reduce carried stock, use storage at the next inn, and inspect pawn specializations.
Reduce weight without losing flexibility
- Carry one planned equipment set instead of every alternative.
- Deposit bulk crafting stock after each substantial haul.
- Keep consumables on their intended users and remove duplicates that will not be used on the next route.
- Check which pawn is carrying materials before transferring more.
- Use storage’s direct selling and armor-equipping functions to avoid unnecessary withdrawals.
Do not confuse camping with an inn rest
Capcom defines “Last Inn Rest” as the last time the Arisen rested at an inn or dwelling; camping does not count for that option. The FAQ also says autosave occurs when entering a new area or resting at an inn. Consequently, camping is useful for field recovery but should not be treated as updating the “Last Inn Rest” reference. Make your storage and important-transfer decisions at the inn, then rest there when you need the documented inn-rest state.
The save definitions and the October 12, 2026 update date for the FAQ are documented by Capcom Support.
Troubleshoot common inventory problems
An item seems to have vanished
- Inspect the Arisen’s inventory.
- Inspect every current pawn.
- Check the pawn’s specialization, especially Hawker or Logistician, for documented automatic receiving or low-rarity selling behavior.
- Check item storage at an innkeeper.
- If the item belonged to a pawn who became forfeit, look in storage because Capcom documents automatic transfer in that case.
Do not assume that an ordinary dismissal or pawn replacement has the same automatic recovery rule.

A deposit will not increase a stack
Check the quantity already stored for that item type. The June 2024 update sets the maximum at 999 per type, and deposits above that maximum are automatically limited. Spend, sell, or otherwise manage the excess instead of repeatedly attempting the same deposit.
You cannot find the item while selling or changing vocation
Speak to an innkeeper and open storage, then use the storage-side action supported by your updated game. For vocation changes, the armor-equip convenience is specifically available at a vocation guild. If the action is not shown, verify that you are in the relevant interface and that your game has the June 26, 2024 update or a later version.
The party becomes heavy after a pawn change
Compare inventories before and after the change. A newly hired pawn may arrive with their own load, while a Hawker or Logistician may alter how items are carried. Remove surplus at the next inn and keep only the route-sized field kit.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteYou are unsure whether a camp changed your save state
Camping does not count as “Last Inn Rest.” Rest at an inn or dwelling when that specific save reference matters, and remember that Capcom separately describes autosave on entering a new area or resting at an inn.
Platform and version qualifications
The cited FAQ is for PlayStation 5 and was last updated October 12, 2026. Capcom says basic game contents are the same across regional versions, with some hardware-specific differences. The June 2024 storage changes are publisher-announced update details. If your platform displays different wording, follow the current in-game interface and manual rather than assuming a platform-specific label is identical.
A two-minute inventory checklist
- Speak with the innkeeper and open storage.
- Inspect the Arisen and every current pawn.
- Keep only the consumables and equipment planned for the next route.
- Deposit crafting stock, spare gear, and sale goods.
- Sell directly from storage when an item is confirmed surplus.
- Equip armor from storage when changing vocation at a vocation guild.
- Check for Hawker or Logistician behavior after any unexpected transfer.
- If a pawn became forfeit, check storage for its items.
- Check stack quantities before depositing more; one item type cannot exceed 999.
- Remember that camping is not a “Last Inn Rest.”
With that routine, storage functions as a controlled stockroom rather than a place where loot disappears. The game’s confirmed conveniences handle the transaction work; your decisions about what leaves the inn determine whether the party stays light, prepared, and easy to audit.
