If an Unappraised Relic or other Spoils item seems to have vanished in Dragon’s Dogma 2, check Pawn inventories and specializations first, then inspect item storage through an innkeeper. A Pawn with Hawker or Logistician can move items or sell low-rarity items, while a Pawn that becomes forfeit sends the items it was carrying to storage. If neither check explains the loss, consider whether a white ogre grabbed your character and escaped, and make sure the game is updated before attempting the pickup again. None of these checks guarantees restoration: Capcom has not published a Relics- or Spoils-specific recovery procedure.
Use this recovery order
Work through the checks in this order so you do not overwrite a useful save or spend time pursuing an unlikely explanation:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Inspect every relevant Pawn. Look for the item in a Pawn’s carried inventory and review whether that Pawn has Hawker or Logistician.
- Speak to an innkeeper and open Item Storage. This is where Capcom says items held by a forfeit Pawn are sent, and where bonus-content items are placed.
- Review the encounter in which the item disappeared. If an enemy grabbed your character and ran, a white ogre may have taken the Spoils; this is a reported possibility, not a confirmed universal mechanic.
- Update the game. June 2026 update notes, reproduced in a Steam post, describe fixes for two item-pickup failures involving Investigate and crowded chests.
- Use a quest hint if the item is tied to an objective. Set the quest as your priority and ask for guidance at the Diviner’s Salon or Reverent Shrine.
Record what you remember before changing anything: the last location, the enemy or chest involved, which Pawn was present, and whether the item was appraised. That timeline helps distinguish a transfer, a failed pickup, and a possible theft.

Players often use “missing Relic” to describe several different situations. An Unappraised Relic may never have entered the Arisen’s inventory because the pickup failed. It may have been transferred to a Pawn, moved to storage after that Pawn became forfeit, or sold by a Pawn with a relevant specialization. A chest can also leave an item unobtainable when there is not enough inventory space. Finally, a white-ogre encounter has been associated with stolen Spoils in one player report.

These explanations do not have equal support. Pawn handling and forfeit storage are described by Capcom. The pickup failures appear in June 2026 update notes reproduced by a community Steam post. The white-ogre explanation comes from one October 2026 Reddit discussion. Treat the last theory as a lead to investigate, not as proof of how every disappearance works.
Check Pawn inventories and specializations
Why Pawns are the first check
Capcom says Pawns with the Hawker and Logistician specializations can affect carried items. Depending on the specialization and situation, a Pawn may receive items or sell low-rarity items. If you recently changed party members, dismissed a Pawn, or noticed an item disappear after adventuring with a full party, start here.
What to inspect
- Open the Pawn-management or inventory view you normally use in your current game session.
- Select each Pawn who was present when the Relic or Spoils item was acquired.
- Look through carried items for the exact item, an Unappraised Relic, or an item whose name changed after appraisal.
- Open each Pawn’s specialization information and note whether Hawker or Logistician is active.
- If you find the item, transfer it back to the Arisen or another controlled inventory before continuing.
Do not assume that an empty Arisen inventory proves the item is gone. A Pawn may be holding it, and a low-rarity item may have been sold as part of the Pawn’s specialization behavior. The available guidance does not provide a way to reverse a sale, so identifying the responsible Pawn quickly is more useful than repeatedly reloading the same area.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsIf a Pawn became forfeit
Capcom states that items a Pawn is holding when that Pawn becomes forfeit are automatically sent to item storage. A forfeit Pawn is therefore not evidence that the items were destroyed. Go to an innkeeper, open the storage menu, and search the stored items before concluding that the loss is permanent.

Open Item Storage through an innkeeper
The exact check
- Travel to an inn and speak with the innkeeper.
- Open the innkeeper’s item-storage menu.
- Search through stored materials, equipment, and other categories for the missing Relic or Spoils item.
- Move the item back into a usable inventory if you find it, leaving enough free capacity for the transfer.
Capcom’s bonus-content FAQ identifies this innkeeper menu as the location for stored items, including bonus items. The same storage location is relevant when a forfeit Pawn’s carried items are returned automatically.
Do not confuse storage guidance with a Relic restoration promise
Capcom’s instructions about resting at an inn and checking storage concern missing additional content. They are not a confirmed remedy for a lost expansion Relic or ordinary Spoils item. If the item is absent from storage, continue with the encounter and pickup checks below rather than assuming that another inn rest will recreate it.
Consider a white-ogre theft, cautiously
An October 2026 Reddit thread describes Unappraised Relics apparently disappearing after a fight. A commenter asked whether the player had fought a white ogre, explaining that the creature had grabbed their character and run away with their Spoils. The commenter reported recovering the loot after finding and killing the ogre in a cave. The original poster then remembered fighting a white ogre.
This is a single player account, not a Capcom diagnosis or a documented guarantee. It is nevertheless a practical clue when the timing matches:

- Your character was physically grabbed and carried away.
- The disappearance occurred immediately after that encounter.
- The area contains a route or cave where the ogre could have escaped.
- The item is absent from both the Arisen’s and Pawns’ inventories and from innkeeper storage.
If those clues fit, return to the nearby area, search likely caves and escape routes, and look for the same white ogre. Recovering the item may require defeating the suspected thief. Do not travel across the entire map on this theory when there was no white-ogre encounter; the report does not establish that other enemies use the same behavior.
Update the game before repeating a failed pickup
A Steam post reproducing Capcom’s June 2026 update notes reports two relevant fixes:
- An issue where items could not be obtained with Investigate after defeating enemies, preventing further Investigate attempts.
- An issue where items became unobtainable when multiple items came from a chest while the inventory lacked enough space.
These notes support updating the game if your Relic or Spoils item never entered an inventory after an enemy death or chest opening. They do not say that already-lost items are restored automatically.

After updating
- Install the latest available game update for your platform.
- Reopen the game and load a save from before the failed pickup if one is available.
- Free inventory space before opening a chest or investigating a defeated enemy.
- Attempt the pickup again and confirm that the item appears in the intended inventory.
- Check Pawn inventories and storage afterward if the item still does not appear where expected.
If you have no earlier save, the update can prevent the same pickup bug from recurring, but the reproduced notes provide no recovery method for an item already rendered unobtainable.

Use quest guidance when the item is objective-related
Some uncertainty is not an inventory bug. If the Relic or Spoils item is connected to a quest and you are unsure where it belongs, set that quest as the priority. Capcom advises visiting the Diviner’s Salon or Reverent Shrine, where a hint may be available for a fee.
A hint can clarify the next objective, but it does not replace the inventory checks. Use it when the item is present but its purpose or destination is unclear, or when you cannot tell whether a quest actually required the item.
Compare the likely causes
| Possible cause | Observable clue | Evidence level | Next action |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pawn transfer or sale | A Pawn accompanied you, especially one with Hawker or Logistician, and the item disappeared after the trip. | Official Capcom guidance | Inspect every relevant Pawn and specialization; recover the item if present. |
| Forfeit Pawn | A Pawn became forfeit while carrying items. | Official Capcom guidance | Speak to an innkeeper and search Item Storage. |
| Missing additional-content item | The item was bonus content rather than ordinary loot. | Official Capcom bonus-content FAQ | Rest at an inn, then check storage and follow the game’s general troubleshooting guidance if it remains absent. |
| Failed Investigate pickup | An enemy was defeated, but Investigate would not obtain the item or stopped allowing further attempts. | June 2026 notes reproduced on Steam | Update the game and retry from an earlier save if possible. |
| Chest capacity failure | Several chest items were generated while there was insufficient inventory space. | June 2026 notes reproduced on Steam | Update, create room, and retry from an earlier save if available. |
| White-ogre theft | A white ogre grabbed the character and ran away with Spoils. | One October 2026 player report | Search nearby caves and routes; pursue the ogre only if the encounter matches. |
The table is a diagnostic aid, not a probability ranking. The available evidence does not establish that any one cause is the universal explanation for missing Relics.
A decision tree for “the item is still missing”
The item was obtained during a normal fight
First inspect Pawns, then storage. If neither contains it, recall whether the Investigate prompt failed or disappeared. If so, update the game and retry from an earlier save when possible. Without an earlier save, there is no documented command or menu option that recreates the lost item.

Built-in cable management guides wires along the arms, keeping cords out of sight and out of the way. Enjoy a tidy, modern workstation that looks as good as it feels to use.
The item came from a chest
Check free capacity and storage before opening more chests. If several items were generated while capacity was insufficient, the June 2026 fix is relevant. Update the game, then retry from a save before the chest interaction if you have one.
The item disappeared after a grab attack
Search Pawns and storage first. If a white ogre was involved, inspect nearby caves and escape routes as a tentative recovery attempt. The report does not establish a fixed cave, respawn rule, or guaranteed recovery sequence.
The item is bonus content
Rest at an inn and use the innkeeper’s storage menu. If the content is still absent, use Capcom’s general additional-content troubleshooting guidance. Do not treat this procedure as proof that an ordinary Relic can be restored from storage.

- Keep free inventory space before opening chests or investigating several enemies in succession.
- After a rare drop, check the Arisen’s inventory and each Pawn’s inventory before dismissing or replacing party members.
- Be especially careful when travelling with Hawker or Logistician Pawns, because Capcom says those specializations can move or sell items.
- After a Pawn becomes forfeit, visit an innkeeper and check storage before continuing the quest.
- When a pickup prompt behaves strangely, stop and create or preserve a save before leaving the area.
- Note the enemy, chest, location, and time of disappearance; those details determine whether a pickup bug or white-ogre lead is plausible.
What is not currently confirmed
There is no Capcom-published Relics- or Spoils-specific recovery procedure established here. No official instruction confirms that every missing Unappraised Relic is placed in storage, that every white ogre can steal loot, or that an update restores items lost before installation. A controller, printed guide, replacement copy of the game, or console-repair service has no documented role in recovering an inventory item. Keep the troubleshooting focused on the game state, Pawns, storage, the relevant encounter, and an updated client.
